Gateway Model # GP6-450,when turn the computer on 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps, monitor has power but no signal from the computer, black screen... help.

these are called cold boot errors from BIOS ROM.
can be bad memory
or bad video card.
if you have 2 or more memory sticks?try them one at a time in bank 1 slot (lowest)
if that works try a spare video card.

Did you check your monitor with other system or individually. If it works fine in these conditions then the issue belongs to your pc.
First of all, you have to confirm that is it the problem of VGA itself or the motherboard. For this, you have to see that does system beep when you start it because system with beeps having the error and the beep sound with continuous or 2-3 beeps relate with different issues.
