Hotpoint Aquarius+ WF740 washing mashine flashing F-05s

It could be a broken drum restraint spring, or a worn or broken. or loose shock absorber.
To check the springs, remove the top cover, and you will see the springs.
Another possibility is the concrete weight could be broken or loose.
You need to remove the lower rear panel of washer to check the shockers and concrete weight.

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WF740. This does have brushes. Tilt the washing machine backwards & look underneath. The brushes can be seen on the motor housing, they are secured by two screws each.

The error F-05 indicates that no drain or pressure switch
jammed on full.

I have just fixed my washing machine with the same fault. As yours, my machine would not drain though it would wash, i changed the pump and it was exactly the same. Eventually, after much hair tearing out I took the Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} pipe exiting from the drum off and found a hankie blocking the pipe, job done!!!

Error F01 is indicating that the motor triac has short circuited, this is part of the electronic speed control for the motor.
Hotpoint's advice is to call an engineer, and I would concur with this, it is not really a DIY repair, unless you have a good knowledge of electronics.

F03 indicates that the wash thermistor is open or short circuit.
I think you need to call engineer to sort the problem

An F-05 error message means that the pressure switch is jammed on empty or a problem with pump.


The fault is associated with drain out (pump blocked or restricted in some way).

Small panel at rear of machine reveals the pump, pull of the two pipes (Plastic clips hard to get off, slide them sideways), remove wire and unclip pump from base of machine by lifting locking tab and sliding to the left, pump can then easily be cleaned.

most hotpoint have a hidden filter
take back bottom panel off. you will see a large diameter hose coming from tub to pump. undo hose at tub end. filter is inside this hose. take it out and clean it

Sounds like water pressure could be low or inlet pipe is kinked.

F04: possible filling or water level problem. Check water inlet pipe (or shut-off valve), or the outlet pipe, or the pump or pump filter if accessible (check for blockages or foreign objects). Also could be the water valve solenoid weak, causing filling to be too slow.

F05: possible draining (pumping off) problem, check the pump filter, or pump, outlet pipe, or U-BEND.
