If you have cleaned the paper feed rollers, and your sure the fuser is turning and your cartridge is ok then, the drive motor on these have a white plastic gear that cracks and allows it to slip on the shaft of the motor. I might still have some of the gears here. I fixed some by apoxying the gear on the shaft and some by flipping the gear on the shaft. Wouldnt spend a lot of time with it. a new laser 4 times as fast is advertised here regularly for less than $80.00

Common issue with these older 4L printers. The problem is a small plastic gear on the main drive motor has cracked. This is what causes the noise and since the machine is not "running" there is no paper feed and thus the paper jam light. Basically there is no drive to any of the printers components. May be hard to find a replacement motor these days but that is what you would need to fix the printer.

When you removed the paper jam, was the paper torn? If so, did you ensure that you found all the pieces. (Put the piece of paper back together like a puzzle to verify). There could be a piece of paper stuck in the printer that is causing the paper sensor to fail.
The other possibility is that when you removed the paper jam, something became dislodged in the printer. Forcefully removing paper from the printer can cause this.
I have had a similar problem. The 4L has an inherent fault in the motor drive gear. It is made of nylon and has probably developed a hair line crack. As a result the gear slips when the printer starts up and tries to feed paper. I have replaced this part some years ago by replacing the whole motor and gear. I did find the replacement parts on eBay today. Here's the url:
The manual is also on line at another place. But when you order the parts you get a manual on CD. I am not the guy selling the parts but need them too that's how I found them.

purchase a maintenance kit.
replace the piper pickup roller.
since the the printer is old and lots things need to be replaced. it is easier to replace all of the necessary parts when you have the printer apart.
the job is not difficult, just time consuming.
maybe your fuser assembly is in lack of silicon paste that's why you are experiencing paper jam.. just try to apply a silicon paste it will run in smooth again...
