Remove cover I am trying to remove the cover of a viewsonic VE710b LCD monitor. I see no screws on the outside. The only possibility that I see is removing the outside frame from the monitor, but I feels like I am going to break it if I do.

How you remove the base? I can get the bezel off around the screen, but not on the bottom.

Did you remove the base from the back? If so, there are two stating slots at the bottom of the screen. A fine blade screwdriver will release these tabs. Once down, the front bezel will pull away but you'll need a flat blade screwdriver (preferably made out of plastic). Slide this screwdriver between the front bezel and the screen frame which is metal. Don't allow the driver to get next to the screen because it will scratch easily. Using the driver you'll be able to pry away the bezel from the rear.

When the monitor goes into sleep mode or is turned off, it is usually difficult to turn it on again. The on/off button has to be pressed several times up to 3 minutes in some cases to have it on again....

conodenalore, It's probably the power supply has failed or at best partially failed. Tech will most likely need to evaluate it. If possible connect a KNOWN GOOD monitor in it's place to PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that the PC is good. You should also visit youtube and see some 8-12 minute video clips of LCD monitor disassembly and repairs of the top 2 causes of true monitor failures! Then get back here to fixya with your plan of action to effect a repair to your monitor. Only you can determine what to do! I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com Bye for now.

Type and size of screws to attach wall mount to viewsoni 17" lcd

Hi there!

Please refer to Page 7 of your VA1703w user manual for help on mounting this monitor, if you do not have the manual available, you can get it online here: http://www.viewsonic.com/assets/022/7368.pdf

From what I can tell, you may be re-using the screws that you remove during the listed procedure.

Monitor turns on and off

Is it an HP or a Viewsonic screen ?

Either way, looks like a power supply problem to me, some Viewsonic screens are known to have a problem with their inner power supply card, If your screen is still under warranty I suggest you don't lose time analysing the problem and just make them come and fix/replace it
