All pictures have black at top of picture

I have a minolta maxxum 5, when we took pictures with it they all are blacked out at the top of the picture. i am not sure what to do about this. the camera takes great pictures but you never get the whole picture. it rewinds fine. sometimes when the film is loaded it doesn't work right away. sometimes you have to turn it off and on again. i don't know if it is worth the money to get it fixed or not. please help.

The shutter assembly is not fully open when shooting. Maybe the motor driving is possibly weak already. You have to bring it to the service center, if the price is not right, better buy a digital camera compatible with your minolta lenses. ( films are getting obsolete fast, but the lenses are not)

Old pictures show up fine but new pictures show up very darkkk

two reasons for this are possible:
1) you changed the exposure compensation by mistake to minus something... - see below - change it again to +- zero:

Blinking circle with black dot - 400si

If its on the top panel, its telling you that there is a film cartridge in the camera, already rewound and ready to come out.

Maxxum camera no color

I think your camera had a microchip in it that changes modes. I could be wrong, I can't remember exactly what model it was. Take the chip out or reset it in the menu. How old is the film you are using? There is some film that is color film but a black and white emulsion. That can be developed in color processing.

BLANK (BLACK) PICTURES

Yes this is a common problem. Set the camera to take a long exposure shot (5 seconds) and with the lens off take a photo. Can you see the ccd or just the shutter (black)? If its just the shutter the shutter is jammed. It's basically a question of persisting with rebooting the camera and taking shots until the shutter frees itself.

CAMERA PROBLEMS

I had the same problem. Took picture; camera turned itself off after one shot; review of picture showed no image (black). Thought it was battery or card but battery fully charged. Took card out; turned camera on; activated shutter; camera turned itself off. Reinserted (same) card; turned camera on; took picture; problem solved. No idea why. Gary

Camera freezes after taking picture

Shooting in the dark here, but the basic things you should try before all else is another mem card, and new compatible batteries. sounds more like a card problem though. hope it works out
