Firstly note that this won't work if you have any error lights on.
Turn on the printer.
Press the Setup Mode (screwdriver) button to enter the Setup Mode.
Press the A button (top left of the LCD Screen), or one of the Arrow buttons, repeatedly until "4.Head Cleaning" appears on the LCD screen, and then press the Color button (green with diamond shape on it).
Cleaning of the print head starts and "Head cleaning" appears on the LCD screen. After each clean perform a nozzle check to confirm that the head is clean and to reset the cleaning cycle.
Note:
If the print quality has not improved after repeating this procedure four or five times, turn this product off and leave it alone overnight. Then repeat head cleaning and nozzle checks if necessary.
If the print quality still has not improved, you may need a third party head cleaning fluid such as this one:
http://www.powerklin.co.uk/?gclid=CNGDypir-JgCFQ4yQgodZlC4lw
Other brands are available just try googling for "inkjet head cleaning fluid".
To maintain the print quality, you should print a few pages at least once a month.
Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Stylus r300 printing orange photos why

Follow these steps to clean the print head from the printer's control panel:
1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing, and the red
b error light is off.
If the red light is flashing or on, you may need to replace the ink cartridge.
2. Press the down button to highlight More Options, then press OK.
3. Use the up or down button to highlight Head Cleaning, then press OK.
4. To begin cleaning, press OK.
While cleaning, the printer makes noise and you see a progress bar on the control panel
display. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds.
Caution: Do not turn off the printer or interrupt the cleaning process.
5. When the cleaning is done, run a nozzle check to confirm the print head nozzles are
clean.
Make sure letter-size plain paper is loaded in the printer, then press Stop. The nozzle check pattern prints.
6. If the pattern has gaps or missing dots, press Stop to clean the print head again.
If the nozzle check pattern looks correct, press OK to finish.

Note: Run nozzle check at least three consecutive times. If you do not see any improvement and you have replaced the ink cartridges, your product may require service.

Blue stripes on photo

Hello, if you have blue stripes moust likely some of the Magenta or Yellow nozzels are clogged. I recomand to execute head cleaning and deap head cleaning BUT with OEM cartridges. If that dosent help take the print head out of the printer and let it soak in distiled wather at 30-35 degrees Celsius. If that still dosent work you will need a new print head.

Magenta nozzel is blocked how can i remobe this problem i have purchased epson r230 printer please tell me tha solution. best Regards ...

First try cleaning the print nozzles to see if this will remove the blockage. You can find the clean print heads option by pressing the menu key on the printer and then use the arrow keys to go through the choices until you see maintenance then press enter or ok. Continue to scroll using the arrow keys until you see clean print nozzle and again press ok or enter. Follow the prompts to use the clean print nozzle option a couple of times, then try another test page to see if this solves your issue. If it doesn't solve the problem and you still get the error that the nozzle is blocked, then open the top of the printer to get the ink cartridges to come to the center position (so that they are accessible) then turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or more then open the top of the printer to access the printer cartridges. Remove both printer cartridges. Under the carriage where the cartridges are held, there should be a plastic hatch with a thumb hole to press and open this area. This is where the ink nozzles are located. They look like a sponge on top of an ink well. Get a couple of lint free cloths or rags and a wash rag with warm water and a few q-tips. Remove the ink wells and check for ink spill behind them that might be blocking the brass computer terminals. Scrape or wipe off any ink that you see in this area. Put the wells back into the printer and press the sponge top to make sure that they are wet and well lubricated. Make sure that the ink does not drip around the well when you press the sponge on top. If it does then clean it up again. Replace the cartridges and plug the unit back in, run another clean nozzle test and align the printer (printer alignment is available in the same area as the clean the print nozzle test is) then run a test print. If the error has not been resolved then there is nothing more that I can do for you without seeing the machine in person. If this is the case then contact Epson at www.epson.com on the internet for repair or replacement.

The colour is faint, a new catridge was installed

Hi there,
When printing becomes faint or colors are incorrect, even if ink remains in the ink tanks, the print head nozzles are probably clogged. Follow the procedures below to clean the nozzles.

Step 1 : Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern.
If white stripes are noticeable
Step 2 : "Aligning the Print Head"
If print quality is poor
Step 2 : "Print Head Cleaning"
if the problem remains
Step 3 : Print Head Deep Cleaning"
if the problem still remains
Step 4 : Replacing Ink Tanks.

Note : * If the ink tank replacement does not resolve the problem, contact the Customer Care Center.
* You will be alerted if low ink warning is enabled.
* When the Maintenace button on the operation panel is pressed, the maintenance mode is shown. Numbers and functions that can be selected on the maintenance mode as follows :
01 : Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
02 : Print Head Cleaning
03 : Print Head Deep Cleaning
04 : Aligning the Print Head
05 : Reset the ink counter.
06 : "Display" or "Not Display" remaining ink volume.
07 : Date and order setting.

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern : Print the nozzle check patterb to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles and to verify print head alignment. Use this function when printed results are blurred or the color is incorrect,
1) With the printer on, load a sheet of Letter paper in the printer.
2) Print the Nozzle Check Pattern.
a) Press the Maintenance button,
b) The Maintenance icon and 01 appear on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button. The nozzle check pattern is printed.

b) White stripes in this pattern indicate that the print head of color ink requires cleaning. Perform the Print Head Cleaning.
c) Uneven patterns indicate that the print head requires alignment.
Perform Aligning of Print Head.
d) Noticeable white stripes in this pattern indicate that the print head require alignment.
Perform Aligning of Print Head.

c) Press the OK button.

Note : After the print head cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the print head nozzles are clean.
If the problem persists, perform printhead deep cleaning.

Print Head Deep Cleaning : If print quality does not improve by standard print head cleaning, try print head deep cleaning, which is more powerful process. Print head deep cleaning consumes ink, so perforn this procedure only when necessary.
1) Ensure that the printer is on.
2) Start Print Head Deep cleaning.
a) Press Maintenance button.
b) Press right arrow twice to display 03 on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button.

If the printhead is still not clean after the second deep cleaning, replace the ink tank.
If ink tank replacement does not resolve the problem, the print head may be worn out. Contact the Customer Care Center.
