Hi guys,
Have you tried to format drive? try to do slow format on the FAT32, and when you put the drive into camcorder should work fine. Also make sure if you have got just one partition isntead of for example 2 or more.

I got the same HDD error on mine also. I removed the zif drive from the camcorder and checked it with an external zif hd adapter and the hard drive was good. I emailed JVC and asked them what is wrong with it they said to just mail it in for repair. I think it has to do with deleting the original hidden files and folders that were factory installed because when I checked the hard drive for folders it didn't have any in it(mistakenly deleted or moved). From what I have read from the manual you are not suppose to change folder names or delete hidden files. Hope this post helps you out a little. If you figure any thing else out post more info. Thanks.

I can not access the menu on my jvc everio gz-mz37u to reformat the hard drive and HDD error is still showing, please help.

Hi,
first of all my advice is: if you keep any electronics devices without usage for a long period, you must detach the battery/power supply.
in this case I think the hard disk may be faulty, if you can open the camera and takeout the HDD connect with an HDD dock connect the dock to your system, in normal condition your computer will detect the hard disk, if so you can save the contents to your computer or you can format it, if it is not detecting your computer it means the HDD is physically damage. please change it.

Computer doesn't recognize hard drive

If your hard drive is not recognize by your computer try to enter cmos set-up and see if your HDD is detected and if it is detected by your pc then you probably have error in your MBR, try to format your hdd using fdisk. If this doesn't work you maybe have a faulty HDD, try to replace with a new one to try if your HDD is really the problem, also replace your data cable (IDE/SATA) maybe that the problem. good luck with this.

HDD Error!

Take it to a camera store or to a Best Buy store and see if the hard drive has a problem with it such as a bent recording head.

Did the hard drive format completely?
