DV Studio 3.1E-SE Download Request

I have a PV-GS15. Very nice little camera. I would like to send the video on tape to my Sony VAIO computer. It's been surprisingly difficult to locate the software DV Studio 3.1E-SE. Does anyone know where I can get it? Also, will I need a cable other than the USB cable that came with the camera?

1. The software is not required - if you have Windows Movie Maker that will work just as well.
2. It does require the DV (firewire) connection. USB connection creates a master-slave interface for "copy and pasting" or transferring low-frame video content (web-cam) or significantly compressed video w/ special drivers. This camcorder records digitally and requires a digital to digital peer-to-peer interface which the firewire connection allows for.
3. For those looking for Vista USB drivers - there are none from the manufacturer. Vista and XP have adequate native drivers for plug and play - camcorder should work just by plugging it in. If it's not recognizing, it could be a number of things:
-bent or broken USB pins
-inactive USB controller
-erroneous system drivers for USB
-camcorder is not plugged into AC power or is not on
-hotsync manager software from cellphones and PDA interference.

the quality decreases if recorded using windows movie maker... the software retains the video quality of the recorded video..

  • Anonymous Oct 26, 2012

that's because movie maker re-encodes the source video. however, generally anyone that cares so much about compression algorithms would know about video editing software and wouldn't be asking these questions. i only stated movie maker as an options to indicate that there are other software solutions available - and movie maker being included in the operating system is the most simplistic example for most "general" consumers.

Firewire. That's the only way to transfer video from this camcorder to your PC.

If you don't have a Firewire port on your PC, then you need to install the card with Firewire ports.

USB will *not* work. PERIOD.

Panasonic pv-gs15 will not play back recorded video in the mini dv deck. all i see is a blue screen with red text ''picture'' on bottom right corner of the screen

Make sure your tape tab is open. See if this works. Sometimes the tab should be closed to prevent eraser or recording over existing film but sometimes the tape tab has to be open to allow for playback or dubbing?

Your tape has a small latch on it that closes to protect from recording or eraser and opens to allow for playing or dubbing. Slide it open and see what happens.

Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS15 Software

What u need at the minimum is an addon card for downloading(refer to the manual for the exact No. it is something like IEEE1395 or so) Then connect the cam to this thro' the cable.
If u use windows xp u have a movie maker. u can use that s/w. Else try to get pinnacle studio or studio 8 to dump and edit etc.
all the best.
