DSP 500 For some reason, starting recently, my headset doesn't work unless I unplug and plug it back in after Windows starts. This never happened before, not sure if it was a service I removed or something.

I have a dsp-400 and have had the same issue intermittently on a laptop. Recently on an HP desktop computer I found setting the device in the Sounds and Audio Device Control panel Voice Tab (and possibly Audio Tab) to reduce the issues with the device ceasing to work. Setting the device from the Sound Icon in the System tray recently only a very temporary fix where the settings reverted to the Sounds and Audio Device Control panel settings in minutes. This is at best an I hope it helps solution as I do not know your specific hardware and software configuration we cannot test a solution.

Cable box lights off won't turn on

This happened to me, and here is what I did... For some odd reason all of the lights and cords were plugged in correctly, except I could not hear the game chat. This happens when your headset is UNSYNCED. Take the headset back over to the xbox/ps3 and resync them. If that does not work, unplug every cable/wire to the headset (even from the xbox/ps3) reassemble it and sync it. It should work then. I have no idea why it will suddenly unsync, but fortunately it doesn't happen that often.

The external speaker of my centro suddenly stopped working after connecting my headset to the phone

The external speaker disconnects when a headset is plugged in. If you have unplugged the headset and it still won't work then the tiny switch inside may be stuck in the disconnect position.

Try plugging and unplugging the headset quickly a few times to see if the switch starts working. If not, the phone will need to be serviced. Sorry.

How do I replace the ear cushions for a Plantronics DSP 400? Does the ear piece detach? Can't find a manual either.

There are some small silver inserts on the side of each earpiece. You can pry them off (gently) starting under the cushion and working your way around.

You can then remove the old cushions and put in the replacements and snap these silver retainer inserts back on.

You can get replacement cushions online for about $16.

Motorola H-500

If you've set the audio input and output to the bluetooth and it still doesn;t work then you probably should try a different headset -- non-Motorola. Their radios sometimes are too weak. You can also try sitting closer to the PS3.

My new headset

If you are using windows XP -- as unreal as it sounds just plug the device in and allow the Plut and Play installer to do it's thing -- it will appear as a device without a driver (in the device management list) but it will generally work. I have tried it on an HP machine and the control panel for sound and audio devices voice tab (as well as the audio tab) needs to be set to the plantronics device, too -- if you use the sound icon in the system tray the device seems to reset periodically to the one in the sound and audio control panel (just learned yesterday). The headset control on the wire -- the mute button (red illuminated button) has ceased to work for some time (possibly around the Service Pack 2 update) but the volume control does seem to work.

ITunes or sound card line in with my USB Plantronics DSP-500 headset
