My internet speed is slow.I connect it via bluetooth.

I use internet via bluetooth and phone as modem but speed is slow comparing to the broadband connection.why? How can I increase its speed while using the phone as modem?

    Basically:

    Broadband = Fast Internet

Phone as Modem = Slow Internet

If you are on a 3G network, you can tweak some settings and get around 1.5MB down. Until the newer technology is implemented to give your phone more bandwidth that will have to do. I would use the phone as modem as a last resort only.

Well Said Frank, There is also signal problem with the connected network.

Internet broadband connection is much more faster because it is directly connected via physical connection from the modem (typical setup for home use). But now a days wireless internet can now compete with DSL thru a 3G/HSPDA network. In our country we can have a maximum bandwidth of 2.5Mbps using 3G wireless network.

Answer:
Yes you can speed up your connection using your phone as a modem but you need to consider some aspects.

  • your phone is a 3G capable phone
  • you have 3G network signal that an indicator "3G"can be seen next to the signal meter of your phone.
  • your network provider has 3G services.
What happen to you most likely is that your are connected using only a GPRS/EDGE. This is equivalent to a dial-up with maximum of 56kbps transfer rate. There is a great gap between the two if you compare it.

I already tested mine with maximum receive/downlink of 2,501 Kbps. I was really amazed.

Hope this things help you. If it does, please rate me.

Sir i can't take large files via bluetooth & download bcos of my phone memry is low my internet speed is also slow plz help me. Rply plz....

Hello there,

The phone comes with a low memory size that is why it is not receiving large files from other devices via bluetooth. What you should do is to try to get an additional memory card and install into the phone, then when you receive files via bluetooth, you should send them to the memory card.

For the internet that is slow to connect, the problem is not from the phone, it is from the network of the sim card service provider. It tends to be slow on some kind of phones with low memory capacity to read internet faster.

Insert a memory card into the phone and try to move all files on it, then you can surf the internet using ur phone with an improved internet speed.

Hope this helped.

What is difference between lan card and modem

Hi there,

The difference between a Lsn Card and a modem are this - A Lan card is a card that you slide into the side of a laptop and it can allow you the ability to get onto a network wirelessly. A Lan card for a PC allows a Lan connection by way of a CAT 5 cable that will allow you to get onto the internet or if a crossover cable is attached to your pc to another you are directly connected to the network. A modem is a piece of hardware that is installed into a slot in the PC that will allow you the ability to get onto the internet by attaching a phone line to it through the RJ 11 jack (which it comes with 2 rj11 jacks on it).

My mobile is nokia 5800 music express. so i want to connect internet through my pc

First of all, install the Noki Pc suite on your computer, connect the phone in Nokia Mode, you'll see that your mobile is a Modem, Open the Internet Connection and set your nokia modem as the default modem, create a dial up connection using the Internet Connection wizard, you'll need the number to dial, this number is to be obtained from the Network Operator. Now you can connect to the internet using your phone. Note that the speed will be slow as compared to normal (wired/wireless) internet connection. Good luck Thanks for using FixYa.

Connection is slow

the internet connection it's slow?
try to go to www.speedtest.net
run a test if it's a lot lower than the speed you're paying for make sure you dont have a splitter or filter between the modem and the jack.
if you dont replace the phonecable
powercycle to the modem.
if stills doesnt help connect the modem straight to the pc without the router.
if the speed its a lot faster its going to be a problem with the router, if the problem persist contacn you internet service provider.

I have 6mbps speed but my speed get too slow on my modem. so how can i improve my speed.

is that a phone modem

this are conventional speeds expected:
  • Conventional Ethernet can transmit data at rates from 10 Mbps up to 100 Mbps.
  • Phoneline networking specification, HomePNA 2.0, transmits data at rates up to 10 Mbps.
  • One type of powerline networking technology promises data speeds up to 189 Mbps.
  • Wireless Ethernet has data transmission rates up to 11 Mbps.
  • HomeRF goes up to 1.6 Mbps.
  • Bluetooth goes up to 3 Mbps.
the speeds noted above are theoretical as other factors WILL affect your connection speed and WILL LIKELY lower the connection speed between your device and the ISP.

for comparison check on www.speedtest.net and compare other isp, changing isp is your more concret solution.

Please tell me what my modem is for a intel insider windows 2000

A modem that is on its own card in a computer is for dialup access to internet, via telephone lines. Other modems that do the same thing are built in to laptop computers, and always have a regular telephone-type plug on gthe computer. Dialup access is notoriously slow compared to Broadband (Cable/DSL) connections.

this is not a problem with ur PC or router this could be in the Filter or splitter that ur ISP gave you, what i would do is call ur ISP and have them run a line test that could be the reason

www.speakeasy.net go to the bottom you should see whats my speed or test ur speed click on that and select a server closest to you and it will run a speed test up and download speed

My internet speed is slow.I connect it via bluetooth.

by any means even if the configuration of the system is also very good but still with the bluetooth you will not get the connectctivity speed like the broadband and that is same as with the wireless also you will not get the speed like you get from the broadband connection . as this is just the virtual connection with just give you the emergency support not like as usual cbroadband connectivity.

so that cannot be increased .
