I have the stereo connected to the audio output of the TV. The problem is the volume control doest control the volume out of the stereo thus I have to use two remotes
On some sets that have audio output jacks, the level of the audio output on the RCA jacks is fixed, and it does not change with the TV's volume control. On some sets, such as Sony, you can choose fixed or variable output. I have also seen some sets that have both fixed and variable RCA jacks on the back. With variable audio out, the audio level at the audio output jacks follows the TV's volume control. If you go into the TV's menu and navigate to the audio page, look for fixed or variable output options. If you have the owner's manual, read the section on audio output. If variable output is not an option on your model, then the level is constant and the volume will have to be adjusted with the stereo's volume control.
You need a universal remote, with it you can operate both units with the one remote.

I check the audio settings and there is option for variable output thus as Don suggestedI will just have to get another universal remote that can handle the DVD, Stereo
