LG CU500 not recognizing Micro SD card

My phone will not acknowledge it has a Micro SD card in it. I inserted a friends recently and saw the behavior I expected but it won't read the new card I just bought. The card came with an adapter so I put it in my camera and the card works fine but the phone doesn't see it. I suspect the contacts in the phone but they are very hard to see let alone clean. Any ideas as to the cause and/or resolution?

My friend's card that did work is the same kind that I bought. (Kingston 1GB) I thought it would be safe.

    Thanks though, any other ideas?

Yeah, I was planning on retesting using my friend's card and phone but I won't see him again until Monday at work and this is really frustrating me. lol

    Thanks though!

I just found something which indicates this is a can of worms but sounds like it can help me resolve this matter. The problem is I don't have a Micro SD card reader. Oh well, I'll get this resolved. Check this out:

I thought I should let everyone know. I got back with that friend and it turns out that his Micro SD card is a SanDisk. If you checked out the link in my previous post you'll see that that is the recommended brand and there is a ton of issues when using Kingston. That's ridiculous because Kingston is a huge name in memory. Oh well! Live and learn, I guess.

  • Anonymous Sep 29, 2007

FYI! I traded cards with that friend! Why would he not trade? He gets a brand new 1GB Kingston card in exchange for a used SanDisk and his phone works perfectly with either brand. Now my phone recognizes the card as soon as it is turned on and is recognized just like a flash drive when connected to the computer. PROBLEM SOLVED!

So, the LG CU500 has problems working with the Kingston brand. They must be aware of this by now and I'm sure they are working on it. Oh well! I'm all set now!

Hi! whenever I plug my phone into my computer, the phone and computer won't react. In the phone, there's a SanDisk Micro SD card in it, and I would like to download music on my phone. Oh yeah btw, it's an LG CU500, too. And I don't know what to do. Help!

Put your new card in your friend's phone to see what happens. See if he can get it going in HIS phone. And check his card in your phone, AGAIN, just to be sure. I looked over the manual but nothing special was required for memory card recognition, especially if your new card is exactly the same as your friends. ZT3000 Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"

I put the micro sd into my lg miami but it doesnt seem to be workin any ideas y ?

The cu500 and 500v have a seperate battery that operates the micro sd card, it goes dead after about 3 years, you have to take the phone apart to replace it, I do not recomend it unless you have electronic soldering experience.

Need unlock code

I don't know if this is the code you're looking for, but I know I had to do a lot of digging to find it:
277634#*#
You should really think about carving it into the back of the phone, because you'll need it a lot. About once a week, my CU500 decides that it isn't going to acknowledge my micro SD card, and I have to go into that menu to "Port Setting" -> "Mass storage" exit out, then go back in, "Port Setting" -> "Mass storage remove" exit out again. Only then does it recognize my memory card again. Rather irritating when I've got a GB of music on board that I want to listen to.

Micro card doesn't work

Go to Setings, Connectivity, USB connection mode, and select "mass storage". Windows should now show the media card when USB is connected.
