My Optoma ep739 will not detect my MacBook Pro (2011)
I have the VGA adaptor for my Macbook Pro, which does detect the Projector, However, when I switch to VGA on my projector, it searches and then says, "NO SIGNAL"...
Is there something I am Missing?
I went into my preferences on my Mac & the mac sees the projector, I turned on mirroring and even adjusted both the mac's resolution to match the projector's... I don't know???? We have a newer Optoma Projector we use in church and it IMMEDIATELY syncs, without having to do anything...
The 1st time I tried it, for a split second I was able to see the mac on my screen, then it went to searching and since, keeps coming back as "NO SIGNAL". My PS3 is connected via the DVI and comes in perfect, and is immediately detected...
So What am I missing, What Can I Do?
Thank You
There's no solution. it will not connect with macbook pro or any other mac. as on the phone with all technicians and they do not know what to do. I had the unit replaced and still would not connect.

VGA to HDMI cables don't work. They're a con. VGA is an analogue signal. HDMI is digital. It's not possible to convert from one to the other with just a bit of wire.
I'm not familiar with that particular projector, but I believe I can help you get a couple cables to hook them up.
According to some specs I found * the projector has a VGA connection. Next we need to figure out which MacBook Pro you have. Does it have a silver keyboard or a black keyboard? If the keyboard is silver, you need a "DVI to VGA" cable, at least a metre long. You might want a longer one. If your keyboard is black, your MacBook Pro probably has Mini Displayport. That's a bit more exotic, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a "Mini Displayport to VGA" cable.
You can also get adaptors and then use regular cables.
For audio, I believe they're called 3.5 mm stereo plugs. So you'll neet a 3.5 mm stereo plug to 3.5 mm stereo plug cable. Make sure it will be long enough.
Apple sells both kinds of cables. If you want to save money, you might shop around. I don't know UK stores, so I don't know if I can help much there. I buy my cables at www.monoprice.com, an American site.
Yes if you are using Mac Book or Mac Book Pro then to connect a VGA projector you need MINI DVI to VGA or MINI DISPLAy to VGA or DVI to VGA.It will solve your issue
You may need a certain connection (MiniDisplay Port to DVI, or MiniDisplay Port to VGA). If you're connecting to an HDMI-compatible projector, you'll need an adapter. You'll also need an adapter if connecting your MDP (MiniDisplay Port) to a DVI or VGA port. Here are some helpful links: #1 MDP Adapter Video (YouTube) #2 MDP to HDMI Adapter (RadioShack) #3 MDP to VGA Adapter (Apple Store) #4 MDP to DVI Adapter (Apple Store)
Hello,
Your Macbook should automaticaly find the best resolution, if everything was OK. Is there any HDMI input on the dell projector? What projector is it? Is there is an HDMI input, you can use a HDMI to mini DVI cable: better picture and sound than VGA, and will probably solve your problem
Depends on the connections you have on both. Most MacBook Pros have a DVI connector on the side. If the IBM projector takes that sort of input, then all you need is that cable. If the IBM projector has a VGA input, then you'll need an adaptor from DVI to VGA. (VGA input is standard monitor looking connector.)
There's no solution. it will not connect with macbook pro or any other mac. as on the phone with all technicians and they do not know what to do. I had the unit replaced and still would not connect.
