ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE BUT WATER STILL COMES OUT OF WATER DISPENSER. DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY WATER COMING INTO ICE MAKER. THIS FRIDGE IS ONLY ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD!

Thanks I will check into that. I was also told there is a 2 way valve and that maybe the ice side of the valve quit working? Does that sound right to you?

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Yes that does sound correct. In my case I jumped the wire that call for water at the icemaker

My whirlpool ed20db ice maker isn't making ice. Inlet tube is frozen solid

Thanks for the model number. The water control valve=> W10245167 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced when this happens. Problem allows water to leak slowly into the ice maker and fill tube can become solid very quickly, or very messy ice formations coming down from ice maker, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

First the water dispenser quit, then the ice maker quit making ice.

you may need to check your water supply to the unit. There should also be a disconnect spot on the bottom front of the fridge behind the kick panel remove this and disconnect the water line from the door.
once this is done have a glass or small pot handy and then try and use the water switch if water comes out then you have a frozen line in the door. if not water comes out then you have a bad fill valve and needs to be replaced.

No water to ice maker.Ice maker quit making ice.

What I found was the problem was that I had not changed the filter on a regular basis.Because of this the water flow to the ice maker was restricted. What this caused was the water inlet tube on the ice maker to freeze up.On my unit it is a black rubber tube about 11/4 long on the right side. You can see it if you know what you are looking for.If you squeeze it you can tell if it is froze or not.You can use a hair drier to thaw it out or squirt water up into the tube .It does not take very long..To make sure it is clear disconnect the tube on the back of the fridge and blow into it.If there is no restriction the tube is clear. After you have determined the tube is clear add water to the ice tray so the unit will make ice this will start the ice maker to cycle. Its making good ice now.

Ice machine isn't working

Two things come to mind.

First, the water valve at the bottom rear of the refrigerator may have failed. You didn't mention if there is a water dispenser and whether or not this is still working. This valve pumps water to the icemaker and water dispenser when the control unit of the icemaker calls for water. Also, there could be a blockage in the line which brings the water to the icemaker.

The other possibility is that the part of the icemaker controls which calls for water from the valve has failed. If this has happened, it would likely be more cost effective to replace the icemaker unit.

Whirlpool GR2FHTXVQ00 fridge. Water dispenser

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

You can thaw out the fill tube and replace the inlet valves.

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator, model # ED25PQ

Under the right side of the fridge in the back there is a dual valve for water and ice. Try changing it out, most likely the ice side is not working. Make sure you unplug the unit first
