Car: 3 series BMW - Problem I can't reset the alarm

engine management should read the transponder chip in your key and deactivate the alarm the battery in the key is charged while key is in ignition if the key hasn't been used for a while maybe its flat

Its a standard battery,take key to local accessory shop
There is a couple of different sizes,yours is the smaller 3v
You will need to reprogamme the key
Enter car,shut all doors
Switch ignition on/off,remove key
PRESS AND HOLD UNLOCK BUTTON
Press lock button 3 times whithin 10 seconds,release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset

Providing central locking works when you insert key in lock,try programming keys
Enter car make sure all doors/windows are shut
Switch ignition on and off,remove key
PRESS AND HOLD UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY
Press lock button on key 3 times whithin 10 seconds and release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset
If your key is the type with bmw logo in the middle battery replacement is not possible,as it charges as you drive

you may need to reset the alarm system(the car may think its being stolen.....)

All bmw x3 have immobilizer and alarm system.
To check,lock car with remote
Unlock with key and open door alarm should activate
To stop alarm, shut door press remote.

When you press lock you should hear central locking click.
If you don.t the remote battery is flat.You can not change battery,it charges in ignition as you drive.Have you got a second key to try.
If not use manual key located in remote key{check ln owners manual}to lock car.Also using this key will confirm central locking is ok.

Take the negative battery cable off overnight. This should fix it it.

try locking and unlocking the car with the key 3 times slowly ,other than that i have no idea ?? another trick is to disconnect battery and join the cables together for a few minutes to discharge any capacitors that may be holding a charge in the computer..Only other thing i can think of is the main dealers who have the right connectors and software to re set it all .sorry i havent been of any help

theres a different way of solving tis issue for bmw.but its deffinitly the alarm shut down lock out switch.call bmw and ask for the reset method have your vin # handy
