Starting to make a noise like a jet taking off. From what I have read it is the rear bearing and only way to repair is to replace the tub which has a bearing on it. Can it be repaired easily or is it a major task? How much is the replacement part? Thanks
Bearing cost about $450.00 plus labor. Major job. Better looking for a new washer. Sears outlet sell good washer at cheaper price.
Good luck
It is not a hard job to replace the tub. Just time consuming. I replaced the back portion of the tub where the bearing is. If the inner tub shaft has any wear on it , replace that as well. Otherwise youll have the same problem in a month. Its an easy fix if your patient. I paid about $130.00 for the rear portion of the tub. I'm not sure about the inner tub.

At Lowes you can purchase foam rubber pads 4"X5" pack of two for $3.50. If walking forward and after cecking level and washer pads are tight, place half of one pad under each of the two front feet. Place the sticky side against washer feet. Solved my problem.

the reason some repair guys dont fix this problem is that it is so expansive to fix the bearing is molded into the tub so you have to buy a new tub assembly and when whirlpool bought out maytag they raised all the prices on everything it would be almost 300 for the tub assembly than it takes about 1 to 2 hours than if you need a new shaft assembly that is more than the tub so thats why they dont fix them
SOURCE: a marble or a bearing is rolling behind the drum
WOW
Like they say where there is a will there is a way.
This was too simple, I had determined that in fact it was a marble from my childs clothes.
So i thought if it can get in there, it can come out the same way.
Take a ziplock sandwich bag, turn it inside out, fish the opened side down the crack between the drum and the flange around it. This is the only place a marble can get in or out.
This took a little patience but you will feel the marble hit the baggie, keep giggleing it and front and back rotation until you feel you have captured the marble, think of it as a game.
When you have it gentley pull it out and assist with a pry bar as I realized after, and open the area just enough for it to pass.
Vola a scored marble.
took me approx ten minutes and didn't have to curse once.
I hope this little Mc Giver trick works for you all and you feel as good as I did and saved alot of money.
Ps. didn't even see any mention from these repair guys of any such expertise.
