board is dead, sell for for scrap, same issue, randomly it will boot mind,,i got the amd version, its out of warranty though. i think the years of overheating have killed this..no vga, no post etc,,,
I have already contacted HP, they said mine is not under warranty cover as the model (and serial no i sent them) is not one listed, however it is exhibiting the same issues as these, and in my opinion its the same problem across the model range. its a dv2104eu.
also the wireless button has come of this too - just a poor poor HP model I have already contacted HP, they said mine is not under warranty cover as the model (and serial no i sent them) is not one listed, however it is exhibiting the same issues as these, and in my opinion its the same problem across the model range. its a dv2104eu.

I have already contacted HP, my model, dv2104EU is not listed, therefore they are not covering this in the extended warranty, although it is obvious to me its the same problem across this model range, since I am experiencing it.
Does anyone know of a hardware/mobo fix, i dont mind getting out the tools to get this working as its essentially useless otherwise.
After numerous attempts it will turn on, and I have bios updated it, but 99% of the time, it will not turn on. I have removed the HD, RAM, and Battery, even reset cmos, and removed wireless card, still same issue. I have one stick of ram in at the moment that I know works and sometimes it comes on......I have already contacted HP, my model, dv2104EU is not listed, therefore they are not covering this in the extended warranty, although it is obvious to me its the same problem across this model range, since I am experiencing it.

Well, this is how it is exactly: In order to fix your laptop, motherboard needs to be replaced or repaired. That's what HP does. There are two BGA chips on the board that are needs REFLOW or REPLACEMENT.

If the laptop appears to boot up but the LCD screen is black, then the problem is a back-light fault caused by either a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to determine the fault and fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen
1) Remove ALL wires and then press and hold the power button in for approx 20 seconds
2) Plug everything back in and then rerty
This may sort the issue out however from what you are descrbing, if there is no boot or display it is highly likely the motherboard and/or the CPU is faulty
I would recommend that you book the PC into a reputable PC repair shop if the above does not work
If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again
Hi, It seems that the problem is with the display chipset ( assuming its with Nvidia chipset model). If you are not a technical person, take out the mother board and do a reflow of the chipset with a blower or else take it to a qualified service person or authorised service center.
Go to this Hp website for you could have a grapgics chip fault. One way to test is to plug a VGA monitor into the VGA outlet port on the upper left side of you laptop and start it up. If you get a clear display you have a screen problem - next step remove the external monitor and again boot up but in a darkened room to see if your backlight is off - if you can just see the HP logo in the back ground then your backlight has failed or more rightly - the backlight micro switch under your R/H hinge has failed. A cheap fix. If there is no display external or TFT your Nvidia graphics chip has failed. m/board replacement required BUT you may qualify for free m/board replacement under

hi,
i m in Hong Kong. The stupid HP repair center charged US 90 just for inspection!!!!! They they said the whole motherboard had to be replaced, thts additional US 630 dollars, the thing is just 1.5 yr old. They also said i don get to keep the broken mother board after replacement. This is simply irresponsible, unethical, sleazy and UNJUST!!
Thanks. right now the computer is fixed for US70. when i hv time, i'll open it up and see if i can figure it out how it was fixed. The shop suggested tht the computer wont last too long. This is such bad quality for HP... Sorry, i hv to do the following for other victims to find this easily:
