The shaver will slow down as the batteries discharge. To suddenly stop suggests either loose batteries or faulty switch. There should be a charging cradle for the shaver to keep it working but if you need batteries then open the battery cover and replace with the same batteries.

Testimonial: "My husband always charge it after shaving(in the charging cradle provided), it didn't slow down or something, it just stopped working and isn't charging"

SOURCE: battery replacement

The batteries are just 2 rechargeable Ni-Cd AA's, soldered together at one end to form a connection. I popped in two regular AA batteries, formed a connection between them, and it started spinning again!
To open up your shaver, remove the lotion cover and remove all 5 screws with a small flat head screwdriver. They have a star head, but also a flat notch. Since they shaver is water tight, the first time you open it up it will be difficult, but if you pry off with your screwdriver it should pop off.
Towards the head of the shaver the batteries are soldered to the circuit board. Pull the tail end of the batteries out of the plastic holder and cut them at the top end as close to the batteries as you can, or CAREFULLY bend it back and forth to snap the metal. Dispose of the batteries responsibly as you would any batteries.

SOURCE: How to replace battery pack for a Norelco 6885xl electric shaver

The battery pack is soldered to the shaver's circuit board. Yes, it's a poor design in building something that people can't readily service unless they have a soldering gun, ******, and wick, plus patience. However, there are plenty complaints online already, and my shaver won't get fixed by b-tching some more.

There are 2 choices for replacement:

1. Bring or mail it to a service center to have the batteries replaced. The fee usually runs $29.99-$39.99, which includes the battery, parts, labor, lubrating your motor, cleaning the interior, cleaning/stripping the cutters, heads, and trimmer, plus return shipping.

2. To save yourself $26-33 bucks, make sure you know how to solder and have the equipment described above. you can find single NiCad AA with solder tab for $3ea or a pair for about $7.95+. Table the batteries together, solder a single tab across +/- on one side, and solder the others onto their respective tabs in your shaver.

For me, I'd love nothing than to hobby around and do it myself, but with 3 kids, a full-time, job, Wii, and other hobbies, it's easiest to just send it out... some services will guarantee to have it done within 2 days of receipt. You'll just have a lil beard to test it out when you get it back. :-)

SOURCE: Braun 5520 Shaver Stopped Working

The "Braun 5520" doesn't have the 2 screws under 2 small caps on bottom, as described by so many on these boards.
The round plastic plug receptacle 'itself' is the release. (Twist-Release the outer ring.)
Look on the base, where you plug the AC cord in.... Just inside the rim, you will see two small 'recesses', opposite each other, that allow a wedge tool (like a large screw driver) to turn the rim counter-clockwise (left) 45 degrees, releasing the base and housing.
Once this is unlocked, slide the cover off and pop the black retainer cover off to reveal the "PC Board W/Batteries" module/assembly. (Batteries are NOT replaceable by themselves.)
There is a tiny (and I mean "tiny"!) resistor that burns out in the circuit board and causes the majority of power malfunctions in these models.
You can order a new PC Board (with batteries) for approx. $40.00. (+ S&H)
One place is: "http://www.electricshaverstore.com/get_item_5505631_braun-pc-board-w-batteries.htm".
(Fits Models: 5510, 5515, 5520, 6515, 6520, 6510, 6512 - Types: 5505, 5506, 5705, 5706)

Or, find other by Googling "Braun 5520 Circuit board assembly", and/or replace this model with your number.

Unit does not take charge. sits on charger normal amount of time green light lit but no power at switch.

Most likely, the battery is dead and needs replaced. You will find the correct battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

To replace, start by removing the lotion packet cover on the back. Then remove the 4 screws to remove the battery compartment cover and access the batteries. For easier replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

Hi!

Warning ! NiCd and NiMh are two different technologies that require different type of charger !

Never replace NiCd with NiMh because a charger designed to charge only NiCd won't be able to detect end of charge of NiMh.

There is a risk of overheating and destruction of batteries and worse, destruction of the appliance !

(At the opposite, a charger that can charge NiMh can charge NiCd))

How I change the battery and what is the cost of a battery.

If the shaver still works but just will not hold a charge as long as it should, you can fix this by replacing the batteries. If the shaver is dead and will not run and the green charging light no longer illuminates when you plug it in, you will need to change the whole circuit board.
You will find the batteries and the circuit board with batteries at shaveroutlet.com. You can order which you require by viewing the links below

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/shaver-replacement-battery-aa-nimh-p-108.html

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/braun-printed-circuit-board-with-batteries-p-106.html

To open the shaver, you will need to pry out the two round plastic screw covers on the bottom then remove the screws underneath. You can then remove the outer case by sliding it down and off of the shaver bode. Then remover the black plastic cover inside to access the circuit board and batteris.
If replacing the entire circuit board, you will simply lift it out and replace. If just replacing the batteries, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

It is dead no power what can i do

Hi,I believe your shaver is a battery powered model..
If this is the case your Rechargeable batteries (built in) could have been dead..and needs to be replaced. But before taking it to a repair shop ,Whether electric or battery operated model please make sure you check the power cord as well, because sometimes one of the lead cracks at the point that it attaches to shaver, which the power cord needs to be replaced.
If you wish you can describe the problem more details than I may suggest something else.
Regards.

If the old batteries were corroded, that may have damaged the circuit board. If the batteries were getting hot before the shaver died, the heat may also have damaged the circuit board. It is also very possible that the salesperson did not do a good job installing them as they are not trained in replacing batteries in shavers.

Braun Shaver 360 Complete #8985

the 110 plugin goes into a circuit which changes AC to DC for charging the internal NiCad batteries. If there is NO charge whatsoever in the batteries, the shaver will not work. If you have any electronics background a simple test with a VOM will determine if the bridge rectifier is putting out any DC.[you must disassemble the shaver] If you have no experience on circuits take it to a repair location.
