possible indicates that the pin number has been entered incorrectly more than 3 times
Take it to a service provider shop and check that out as it will require a PUK code to unlock the system
other than that they will be able to say if the phone is locked to a particular service provider

The colours vary from country to country.
In the UK and Ireland the colours are

In the USA and Canada
