Whirlpool Electric Cooktop Wiring

During a recent kitchen remodel, out cook top was disconnected and I am not sure what wires go to what. I have coming out of the wall a White wire, a black wire and a red wire. Coming from the Cooktop, I have a black wire, a red wire and a bare wire. There is also a white wire attached to the terminal box, I presume acting as a ground wire.
I know that I should connect black to black and red to red. Do I connect the bare wire coming out of the cooktop to the white wire from the wall and the white wire to the terminal box?

Sound like you have a three wire setup on you house most commonly the black wire is the L1 wire or one of the hot wires and the red is the L2 wire and is also one of the hot wire in this instance your white wire would be your neutral/ground wire this would connect to the copper wire on your cook top depending on the model it would have a red wire a black wire and the copper wire but some may also have a white wire also if this is the case on a three wire setup you would attach the copper and white wires together also if needed you can goto the maufactures website and download an instalation guide.

Where can I get a wiring diagram for whirlpool speed top 2600 electric cooktop

Sometimes if you call the manufacturer of an appliance and have your model number ready, they will email you an diagram or mail it to you. I would not tell them what you are planning on doing, simply because of them not recommending doing this they may not give you what you need. Just tell them you need a diagram thats all. I've done this in the past and it was free, just depends on the company you are dealing with. Hope this helps, good luck.

I have a Jenn-Air CCE3401 Electric Cooktop I want to remove. How do I disconnect the wires from the cooktop? In other words, how do you get inside the cooktop to disconnect the wires? Disconnecting...

Firstly turn the power off. Lift the cooktop out from the benchtop and lean it against the wall. There will be a small panel where the wiring terminates into the cooktop. Remove the panel and disconnect the wiring to the cooktop. Ensure that you insulate all wires properly. You can then turn the power back on if you need to.

Kitchen aid KECC507GBL3 electric 36in cooktop. Burner switch is out - cannot get glass top off. Have removed all screws from plate mountings on the sides. Is there a trick to this?

Hi,

If it’s a range, there is usually a couple of screws that hold the front of the top down, remove the screws, lift the front of the top and pull it out from the back hinges. Install the new top, make sure there are no loose wiring.
If it’s a cook top then make sure that the power to the cook top has been turned off, open the cabinet and look up. There should be a couple of brackets that secure the cook top. Remove the brackets, carefully lift the top and set it on the counter top (put a towel on the counter top first). replace the glass top (make sure there is no loose or exposed wiring), set the cook top back in the counter, secure it with brackets as was before, and double check your work.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com

My ignitor on my ge cooktop keeps clicking slowly in off mode

As it relates to 5 burner gas cooktop Model Number JGP 963SEJ1SS
First - Ignite the flame then reduce the flame to between low and medium.  If the igniter continues to click, you most likely have a contact switch issue related to the problem burner.
Unplug the cook top and turn off the gas.  After the gas is turned off, disconnect the gas line.
Remove the cook top.

Unscrew and Remove ALL of the burner bases by lifting them up.  The ceramic igniters may be difficult to remove but they will come loose if worked out slowly.
Pull of the wire connected to the igniter.
Remove to cook top top plate from the base, exposing the internal gas valves and wiring.
All of the burners are wired in parallel.   Lift off and unsnap the casing of the problem igniter switch.  The repair may require something as simple as, 1- cleaning the contact strips, or 2- slightly bending the non stationary contact strip to keep it from coming in contact with the stationary contact when in the off position, or 3- replacing the switch.
Unless you comfortable and understand how electric systems and switches work, this is a job for a qualified repair person.

Jenn air jed 8430 electric cooktop control switch for rear burner

The cook top is attached to the wood frame by brackets, just remove the screws and the electric connection, make sure the power is off from the main box, it's a 220 volt wiring and then just lift the top off. to remove the glass, look around the edges and you should see some small screws, just remove them and the glass should lift off.
