SOURCE: m6850fx restore factory settings

Well, if you have done all that and no result, then we are going to have to, pull out the "Big Guns" so to speak. Right you will have to get a Windows Vista Install DVD. Boot from this DVD, and try all of the "Repair" options, if they do not work, then you will simply have to re-install Vista from scratch. IE: Boot from DVD and select Install. go through and re-install Vista, unfortunately this will, remove all your old settings, however your files etc, will still remain intact, unless Vista demands you "Format" the drive, in this instance you will loose everything, lets hope it doesn't come to that. I have included a link below to guide you through. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-NZ/windows-vista/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-Vista
You may have to use a friends PC, to do all this.. You can also download a copy of Vista too, and you are allowed to reinstall, as you already own a licensed version.

I have a Gateway Laptop that is 6860fx, and I wish to do a factory reset on it. The reason is that the laptop is infected with many pop-ups.

factory reset removes everything
why not go to settings and just remove pop up setting --turn it off and delete pop-ups

I removed the CMOS battery out of my NV55CO3u gateway laptop and it still didnt remove the Unlock password that I forgot.

Take the battery out of the laptop and then hold the power button on the laptop for 2 minutes.

This should reset the BOIS and erase the unlock password.

I set a password to my laptop and I can't remember what it is, how can I get to use my laptop again??

@pinkruthpink

The quickiest way to reset your password is to run System Recovery (aside paying someone from a local computer store and use a software to reset it). Gateway laptops have a built-in recovery mode on the system wherein you can restore the computer to factory default without using a restore discs. (please note that this will erase everything). The hotkey for the recovery is the ALT+F10 key. After you press the power button, you need to hold ALT key and then simultaneously press the F10 key.. Once the recovery menu has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings.

How to reboot my gateway nv53 laptop to factory without a cd bought this laptop used starting to have problems so i want to erase everything and make it like new

Hi.

The laptop may have a hidden recovery partion which you can access from boot up. Turn the laptop off and then restart it. When you see the Gateway logo hold down Alt and repeatedly press the F10 key. From there follow the on-screen instructions to restore the laptop to factory defaults, it should take about half an hour but could be longer.

Remember to back up any data that you want before you restore the system.

If you can't access the recovery partition then you can use Windows to do it for you. Click on the Start Menu> All Programs>Gateway and then Gateway Recovery Management. In the Gateway Recovery window click on Restore and then select Restore System to factory default and follow the on-screen instruction. The computer will restart and proceed with the restore.

How can i make factory setting for Aspire 5610 without recovery disc and/or with recovery disc

Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.
