SOURCE: Kenmore Electric Dryer Model # 110.62622101

I think on your machine the lower thermostat connected to one terminal of the element, you have a wire coming from the thermal cut off down to the top terminal of the lower thermostat, a wire from the lower thermostat to the timer, and a wire going to the other terminal of the element.
You probably have the wire from the cut-off correct as it won't reach the other terminals. You have crossed the other 2 wires. This caused 240V to short across the lower thermostat and burned it out.
You will need a new Hi-limit thermostat, which will include the upper cut-off as well. They come as a set part# 279816. This will be a little different because the new hi-limit will not connect directly to the element. There will be all the wire ends and instructions with it that you need to get it hooked up correctly.
There should be a wiring diagram inside the console of the dryer that shows which wires go where, but I am sure you have crossed the 2 wires below the hi-limit switch.
Post back if you need any help.
Thanks/Mike

SOURCE: replacing the heating element Kenmore dryer 110 64892

nestor, on the posted model, you want to drop the lower front panel. Take a puddy knife and push in on the clips on each side and it will pull off. Kill the power to the dryer. On the right you will see the heater housing. The housing will have a front deflector. You can remove that deflector by removing the screw on the bottom or simply just bend it down out of the way. Remove the 2 wires on the left that attach to the element itself. On the left side of the housing there will be a quarter inch screw that holds the element in place. Use a small socket set to get it off. Now the element will pull right out of the housing. Sometimes they are difficult to pull out but it will come out. Did you ohm out that element to make sure that was the culprit? Catriver.

My dryer won't heat up

You can try the heating elements. First unplug the dryer and you will have to take back panel off. You need a Volt Ohm meter to do a resistance measurement. Place the leading one each end of the elements and the reading should be close to "0". I'm thinking if the dryer is old the heating elements has burned out.

How do I remove the back of this dryer?

From the way it sounds the back is not supposed to come off. On some of the kenmore dryers there is a kickplate in the front. You can confirm this by looking at the front of the dryer with the door closed. if there is a gap about a quarter of the way up from the bottom completely across, then you'll need to remove that and then you'll have access to the components you are looking for. To ttake the kickplate off there are two clips, one on each side you push it with a flathead screw driver and pull the kickplate forward.

I have a kenmore elite dryer model 11067082600 and everytime i press start it won't run and a f code appears

It's most likely your thermal fuse. Same thing happened to me. I found 1 for $4.99 on Amazon. To get to it you must 1st open the dryer door, then use a putty knive to pry open the top panel. There are clips under each side that when you stick your putty knife in there, you'll feel it release. Then remove the 2 screws right under there, which will help to release front panel. After removing screws, lift front panel make sure you disconnect switch on right side near right screw. Then, look below the drum and you'll see the thermostat. It had 2 light blue wires clipped on top of it. Remove clips, then remove the 2 screws that fasten the thermostat... replace with new thermostat. The part# is listed on it. Mine was #3390719

Gas dryer will heat sometimes and not heat other times kenmore model 72802

sounds like bad gas coils, you have to send the whole model number,it will start with 110. or similar,if the bottom panel comes off, remove it,start the dryer, or in the front panel down near the bottom pop off the cover and look in,if the flame lights and then after 10 to 20 minutes the flame doesn't light you have bad gas coils.when the coils are starting to fail they will work correctly until they heat up and then they won't work until they cool down, the coils are what opens the gas valve.the coils are on top of the gas valve, remove the two phillips screws, pull off the cover, remove the wires from the coils and install the new coils, put it back together and you'll be fine, also while you're in there, get a shop vac and vac out the cabinet, stick it on blow and blow all the lint off of the motor and out of the gas tube, then clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into.if your vent line is a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside,i use a leaf blower remove the vent line from the back of the dryer and blow all the lint outside out of the line,do this once a year, you won't have any fires, your clothes will dry on time and your motor and parts will last longer

How do I get the control panel face off on a Kenmore model 110.72942100 gas dryer? The start switch has failed, but I can't figure out how to get at the switch without breaking something. There are...

Take the knob off of the switch. Then lift the locking tab on the backside of the switch, twist it a hair and it will drop right out the back side of the control.

I have a Kenmore Dryer, Model 96292110. It runs, but it does not heat the air. I have checked the circuit breakers. They are fine.

Hello,

If your Maytag dryer has mysteriously stopped producing heat, a blown thermal fuse may be the cause of your problem. In Whirlpool dryers, thermal fuses are safety switches that are designed to disrupt the flow of electricity to your dryer's heating mechanisms once the dryer reaches a predetermined maximum temperature, usually somewhere around 180 degrees F.

Thankfully, troubleshooting the thermal fuse in a Maytag dryer is easier than it sounds.

Instructions And Things You'll Needed.
  • Screwdriver,Towel,Electrical tape,Replacement thermal fuse, if necessary.
1 Clean out thelint screen in your Maytag clothes dryer. Lint buildup can cause your dryerto overheat, triggering the thermal fuse to disrupt power to your dryer'sheating mechanisms. Take the lint screen out of your Whirlpool dryer and washit in warm water. Dry the screen thoroughly before replacing it.

2 Look behindthe dryer to check its flexible exhaust hose for kinks or obstructions.Disconnect the exhaust hose from the back of your dryer and clean out any lintthat has built up.

3 Go outside andcheck your Maytag dryer's exhaust vent for obstructions. Lint buildup, birdnests or other obstructions in the outside exhaust vent can trigger yourdryer's thermal fuse.

4 Disconnectyour dryer from its power source before attempting to access its thermal fuse.

5 Access the thermal fuse in your Maytag dryer byremoving the back panel. Remove the screws that hold the back panel in placeand it should easily come free.

6 Look betweenthe dryer's blower housing and exhaust to locate its thermal fuse. The thermalfuse in a Whirlpool dryer looks like a white plastic strip that has two wiresconnected to it.

7 Bypass the thermal fuse in your Maytag dryer whileyou perform a quick diagnostic test. Use electrical tape to tape together thetwo wires connected to the thermal fuse. Reassemble your dryer and plug it backin. Set the dryer to a timed heated drying cycle and press "Start."If the dryer produces heat with its thermal fuse bypassed, it means the thermalfuse needs to be replaced.

8 Replace a blown thermal fuse in your Maytag dryer.Disconnect the power and remove the back panel. Remove the electrical tape thatyou used to perform the diagnostic test and disconnect the wires from thethermal fuse. Remove the screws that secure the thermal fuse to the dryer anddiscard the blown fuse. Attach the replacement thermal fuse by replacing andtightening the screws. Attach the wires to the new thermal fuse.

Thanks for using fixya.

Dryer automatically starts when the door is shut

Hello there:
This may not be just a timer issue this could be the door switch that is not operating correctly if this switch fails they will fail in the run position meaning the unit will want to run automatically when the door is closed
so what you are going to want to do is to try to remove the door switch and see if the dryer now runs if not there is the problem simply get a new one and reinstall it now if it is the timer you will have to remove the back panel the panel behind the knobs in the back it should have 8 screws
now after it is removed locate the timer it should be the one that controles the different time settings on the dryer. simply remopve the wires attached to it and mark them so you know where they go and get a new one and install and replace the wires and test if all is good than put the back cover back on ok
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards MIchael

How do I open up the dryer?? The back panel seems to be fused and the drum seems to be attached to the back, not sitting on pads or rollers. At one certain point it makes a "clunk" and I want to see why...

Check at www.sears.com under parts direct tab. Enter the model number and look at the case parts for exploded view of the dryer. This may give clue as to how to open your dryer case.

Either the top pries up or at the bottom of the front panel you'll see 2 screws. If screws at bottom take out and lift off be sure to disconnect door switch wires before removing door completly. If it's pry top up use flat screw driver at about inch and a halh in from edges pop the top up and open then inside front panel toward top you'll find 2 more screws take them out and front panel should come off. Good Luck

I am trying to replace the belt but the drum is still attached to the back (I have taken every visible screw out). Should I try from the front? Is there a way of getting the drum unsecured from the back?

Dryers do not open from the back
the screws removed secure parts to the inside of the case
carefully replace them.
to opent the front of the dryer
unplg dryer

type I: maytag:kenmore stackable:speedqueen:
  • remove 2 screws from bottom of front panel, swing front panel out at bottom and unhook from dop
  • remove door switch wires from switch
  • remove front panel set aside
type II: Kenmore:whirlpool:ge:frigidaire
  • remove lint filter
  • remove 2 screws in lint filter holder
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade
depress spring catches at corners of top cover
  • lift top cover at front
  • remove 1screw each side 1/3 way down
  • remove door switch wires
  • remove front panel set aside
dryer internals are exposed and easily repairable
examine back panel to ensure that nothing is detached from screw removal
assemble in reverse order

Note:
while the dryer is disassembled, examine felts rollers and glides for wear, most common cause of belt breakage, if there is any wear, replace.
examine fan, fan housing and ducting for lint that got past the filter screen.
