Have a 30gb hdd6330. About 8.1 gb free space, rest all mp3. Suddenly it wouldn't play any song. I did the + and power reset, now when I go to artists or albums it says "list empty". If I connect it to my pc, all my music is still there. If I try to use to player, it shows no songs to play! Under it's information summary it still shows 8.1 gb free!
What to do?
Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager (note: the HDD6330 is not compatible with Windows Vista or with Windows Media Player 11 - pluggging the device into a computer with either of these installed will ruin the player, even though it may work initially).
Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:

The reason that I suggested the firmware update is precisely because it will all of your contents clear. You have a corrupt database, and you need to wipe the info and start it from scratch - the only safe ways to wipe your data are either through a firmware upgrade or through doing a Repair in the Philips Device Manager. If your firmware is already up-to-date, run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager.
There is absolutely no way to resovle your issue without wiping everything off it.
I looked and looked over the FAQ on album art transfer, and it looks like you did everything correctly. The only thing I can suggest from practical experience is that, if you already have a song on the GoGear that does not have the album art on it (for whatever reason), then you cannot simply sync the correct song onto the player and hope that it overrides the existing song. The GoGear will simply say, "hey, that song is already on there" and will ignore your changes. You first have to delete the song without album art off the player, and then reload the new one with album art.
Unfortunately, I plugged my HDD6330 into a computer running Windows Media Player 11 quite a while ago (and I was cut by Philips last year in their layoff wave), so I no longer have one to play with to test out right now.

I have the same problem but mine has list empty for totally random songs while some still play.
Went to the link you provided. The newest device/firmware manager they have is V.5.2 and it says if you install it(the firmware) it will completely wipe all content on your player. They also have the newest version firware which is listed as V.2.1 and that is what I'm currently running. My current version device manager only gives the option to update(which it says it is) and repair(which will wipe all content).
Okay I see that the device manager download includes v2.4 for the firmware. If I download this newer device manager will it let me "repair" it as you suggested without forcing me to first upgrdade the firmware which will wipe my player(which I'm trying to avoid)
?
Thank you for your help thus far...Okay, everything's updated. It's wiped, newest firmware, device manager, ect. I'm still only using it with my pc(xp sp1 WMP10). My entire existing library appears in the WMP10 and I synced a few albums, but no matter what the album art won't transfer to the player. The album art box is checked. Everyone of my albums(folder) has a 200x200 jpg named AlbumArt.jpg in it along with all the tracks. If I play a song from an album with WMP and select "now playing" it's album art shows on my pc correctly, and if it doesn't I use advanced tag editor to associate the correct one with that album and then it does. But they never never never appear on my player...Any thoughts? I want to solve the problem before I attempt to resync about 21gb's of music and damn it, I want my album art!
I actually have two hdd6330 units, and can't get album art on either one of them no matter what I do. I've tried Id tags, having the image embedded in every song, have albumart.jpg in the folder, used WMP10, media monkey, etc. It will not add the album art to the player no matter what. I've researched this for about 8 months now. Apparently no one on earth can tell me what to do to remedy my problem. Because of this problem, the last time I loaded the one player, I just used explorer to explore my gogear and my music folders, and just using drag and drop, dropped the folders I wanted into my player's "music" folder. Everything worked, and for the first and only time, it showed album art. I wonder if loading the player this way could have led to my problem I experienced with that player(it suddenly not seeing any of the music on it). I would also like to buy new batteries for them but again apparently no one on earth can tell me what battery to buy. I heard a rumor that I 4th gen ipod battery would work if you used your battery's connector on it, but can't confirm it...I've disassembled mine and ran all the numbers I found on all the layers of wrapping on the battery and got no matches at any sites. Having zero customer support from philips is one thing, but searching the entire net for about a year has not resolved even one damn problem I have with these stupid players. But, thanks again.
