In the middle of feed opening there is a sensor which in your case will be pushed in and stuck. Try clearing using tweezers or soak it up with WD-40 and still using tweezers try to release the sensor

SOURCE: shredder won't shred

They may be a compression switch on the lip where it sets on the bucket. This it to prevent it from running while its off its buckette. If this is not all the way in it wont run. Look for that clean any safty switch or buttons you find.
Slap it with your tax booklet and call me in the morning. Good luck DFD

My shredder won't shred

If the motor will not run, then probably there's paper clogged in the shredder. Turn over the shredder, after unplugging the power cord, and remove the papers.

If the motor will run but not shredding any paper, then the drive gear has broken teeth. This is not usually worth fixing.
Hope this helps.

My shredder worked fine but now when I turn on it does not stop running and does not shred paper ?

Most shredders will have a shred and a reverse setting. Is it running in reverse? Has the bin been emptied? With the power off, you can remove the bin and manually pull excess shredded paper jammed in the cutting heads -watch out, sharp metal . Once cleared run single sheets for the first minute to help clear rollers.

Shredder keeps running

shredders have a small lever that is near the cutters that is depressed by the paper that is being shredded, when the paper clears the lever, the shredder shuts off. If it keeps running, paper is sticking in the lever area, holding it down so the shredder cannot turn off. Unplug the shredder and clear the area untill the lever or little arm can move freely, and the problem is solved.

I have an office max shredder OM99729 that quit working. the motor runs but it won't pull the paper into the shredder. I opened the cover and found the gear is stripped that runs directly off the motor....

Royal 85x crosscut shredder stopped working

Some shredders aren't designed to shred anything more than paper. Credit cards, staples, paper clips and the like could have jammed it up. Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More help with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil

If you can't get the paper shredder up and running, it looks like you might have to pick up a new paper shredder. Paper shredders can be pretty cheap though, great guide to cheap paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

My paper shredder stopped working

First things First...UNPLUG THE UNIT. It sounds like it has been fed too many pages at one time. You may also want to dump any shredded paper so there is plenty of room for the shredder blades to pull in the paper. If the paper catcher is too full the blades can grab shreds from the bottom and stop the blades movement. Just be careful. Shredders can be dangerous.

It stopped working after a big shred. I suspect an overheat. How do I reset it?

it's overheated, after you turn on the shredder, is it working?
if not, that means your shredder's motor is death.
need to buy a new shredder.
