Align PIckup Roller Gears HP Officejet 4500

After repeated cleanings of the several paper feed rollers, our printer won't take paper unless we carefully pressure feed it in a sheet at a time - and only cardstock will take. When observing with a flashlight, the white and black gears on the pickup roller are not spinning nor teeth connecting. Thus not turning the pick roller to grab the paper. How do I realign the gears so they work again!?

Remove the paper tray and look up into the paper pickup area. The roller there is the paper pickup roller. Under the paper pickup roller is a paper double-feed prevention pad. Take a "Q-Tip" dipped in alcohol and clean both the paper pickup roller and the double-feed prevention pad. That should prevent the paper double-feeds that you are experiencing.

My hp officejet pro k8600 won't print straight.

When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or stickyrollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces ofpaper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper tonot feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

HP P3005DN Tray 2 pickup roller does not turn. Hear clicking sound but roller doesn't turn to pickup and feed paper.

Hi

This is a problem with the Pickup roller.

Try to inspect the paper pickup roller, on the right side of the roller you can find a small notch which gets coupled with the shaft it will be broken. You have to replace the roller.

My Dell 1110 laser jet printer begins to pick up a sheet of paper, but then stops just as the paper turns up with the roller. This will happen several times before the printer actually picks up the...

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers . The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

Metal Tab Separation- Pull out your paper tray and examine either end where the paper sits in. If any of the corners are held down by metal tabs, this is your paper feed system. Chances are, you only have one rubber roller or one set of rollers arranged along side of each other. Reach in where the tray goes and feel up. You should feel some rollers. They might be completely round, or they might be shaped like a half moon. Clean whichever part of them you can with the solution, and this should stop your paper jams. It might be necessary to turn them, but don't force them if they don't move freely.

Pickup Roller and Separation Pad-

If your printer uses this paper feed system, you should see a small piece of flat or slightly curved rubber or cork. It would be towards the end of the paper tray, or deep inside the paper loading cavity on top loaders. This 'separation pad' rubs against the paper feed roller, so if you find the pad, you've found the roller. Clean it and your jams should stop.

Three Roller Paper Separation System- Pull your paper tray out, and look for a roller on either end of it. If you find one, clean it. Then look inside the printer where that roller would rest with the paper tray inserted. You'll find another paper roller there. Clean this one also. Finally, look further back or closer to the front of your printer (depending on which way your paper feeds) to find another roller or set of rollers. Clean all of these, and your paper jams will go away.

When printing, the paper in the tray does not feed. It lifts but doesn't catch.

The printer's pickup roller needs to be cleaned or if its worned needs to be replaced. The pickup roller is the little blue rubber roller behind the cartridge. If it still doesn't catch you'll need to strip the machine down until you get to the springs that lifts the papertray. Stretch the springs a bit. This will cause the paper to be pressed against the pickup roller. Re-assemble the machine and try it.

The auto document feeder does not pick up the paper

The pickup roller is probably dirty. Take a clean sheet of paper and put a small amount of rubbing alcohol at the end. Take that same end and place it in the automatic feeder and attempt to feed through for a few times. This should clean the pickup roller and allow paper to be picked up. Wait a few minutes for the alcohol to dry and attemt to feed a clean sheet of paper. You might need to repeat the process a few times
