Tape speed distorts and slows

Sony walkman wm-fx290w. after 5 weeks of use, the tape speed has slowed to where the sound is warbling and distorts. this is the 2nd one i've had that has done exactly this after short term use. not about batteries or old tapes. doesn't matter what tape is in. is this consistent with all wm-fx 290w's? what can i do on my end? i have some general mechanical knowledge.

Motor belts are cheap. try replacing the belt that drives the wheel. this become distorted specially when the unit has not been use for quit long time. if you think its not about belt, clean up the rubber that touches the tape when played, also the tape head with 70% alcohol. hope this help.

Why is audio warbled and seems slow?

Belt slippage or excessive friction in drive. Roll up sleeves and check it out.

My sony walkman WM EX-190 is playing at low speed than normal. I changed the belt. bot still it is not playing at normal speed.

its maybe a failed speed ajustment or its slipped there is normally a tine whole on the back under the belt clip, press play and insert a small screw driver and turn u should find it speed up or slows down, if not its failed, but please be careful they are delicate anyhow

New tape playing too fast. What do I do to slow it to normal speed?

You have to replace the IC 601, probably burns because of some passive components that must be replaced. "Doctor.walkman @ gmail.com"

Sony Walkman cassette tape player operating at slower speed

If this is the WMD6C then it is servo locked and can be fine tuned with the pitch control on the back of the unit just turn the switch to on then adjust to preferred speed.

My sound is all slow and warbled when I play itunes, tv shows, dv

this case generally you may consider:
1) check your ram, clean the ram and slot, or change new ram
2) check your internet speed, cause sound slow if the speed down too much, or there are more than one conputer using your router at the same time
3) virus attact maybe damage your system files cause sound problem
