Ccdtrv608 sony handycam stuck in nightshot mode

The camcorder is stuck in nightshot and no matter what is done it will not come out of nightshot mode. i have turned the switch on and off many times and also turned it on/off internally through the menu and still no change, it still flashes the icon and says "NightShot" on the LCD screen.

  • brojam22 Mar 24, 2009

This did not work. i also tried turning it off via the internal menu in addition to this and it still says nightshot.

  • brojam22 Mar 24, 2009

yes, the knob DOES work. (when switching on and off the LCD flickers as though you are shooting in nightshot mode like you normally would) If i aim at a light spot nearby and turn the setting on/off then the light spot gets bigger and smaller like it should. the screen has the light green tint at all times if that helps any.

    OK,
Above mentioned knob turns nightshot mechanism on-off in lens assembly.
You need to take off front cover to see that lever works or intact with marked knob.
Let me know the results to proceed.

right, nightshot mechanism consist of lever that slide down and up a special filter in front of CCD Imager and press electronic switch to turn on-off nightshot electronic circuit.
upon your response I think you should take off front cover (if you are conformable with it) to inspect filter movement and switch on-off

How can i change the interface language of my Sony Handycam DCR TRV9 nightshot- camcorder - Mini DV.its japaneese and i want to change it to english

My research shows that model is only for sale only in Asia, I looked into some similar USA released models and they did NOT have multiple language support so I am thinking that the DCR-TRV9 is only in Japanese.

Just out of curiosity are the markings on the camera body in English or in Japanese?

My Sony Model CCD-F301 camcorder is not working properly and it flashes the eject symbol when I am trying to play a tape or rewind or fast forward... What can I do to fix the problem?

Your ccd-f301 camcorder if as old as the hills and should be replaced. I can fix them but it a total rebuild due to major capacitor failure . Then also can have issues with the guide arms coming off the guides and very loose guide rollers. It's a 20 year old camcorder. What is going on with your ccdtrv608? that is a cool camcorder. Can't turn off nightshot on my handycam help!!!

Option 1:

Using the NightShot:

1. First Set the POWER Switch to Camera, Slide NIGHTSHOT to ON.

2. The NIGHTSHOT indicators flash on the screen.

3. To cancel the NightShot mode, Slide NIGHTSHOT to OFF.

Option 2:

1. Let us try to reset the Camcorder and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

2. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD screen of the Camcorder.

3. The Camcorder should be switched ON when you reset the unit. Press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.

NOTE: Resetting the Camcorder will reset the settings of the Camcorder to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camcorder.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you shot the videos in dark with night shot on. There is no way to convert them to look like day. But if you use a editing program like Sony Vegas you would be able to tweek the video to look simi normal.

Sony DCR-HC51

This is the solution, I would only add that it's on the top of the camera itself. Not in the digital menu or backlight button. On my older version, it's between the cassette and lens sections of the camera.
Never having used the nightshot before, my sister left me with the same quandary...
