Not printing black

I cannot print in black. I have run all of the cleaning and maintenance cycles. One other post suggested soaking the print head. I've taken the printer apart but i'm not sure how to take the print head out(don't want to break anything) If anyone can tell me how to take the print head out and clean it it would be greatly appreciated.

While printing , black faded right out although I still had plenty of ink. Replaced with new cartridge with no luck. Colors OK.

First of all the print head is clogged just because you have tried to print repeatedly while some of the cartridges are empty. This results ink burn in the nozzle and clog. My recipe: Heat some drinking water in the kettle (70-80 C). Put the head in it and shake gently several times until ink is completely clean (10 minutes). Change the water do the same again. Change the water again (70-80 C) this time put a spoon full of apple vinegar (becomes a natural acidic solution very dilute) shake again, clean with cotton stick. I did it and started to love my mp800 again as much as I just bought it, all colours come back and started to print superior photos again...... Do not touch heads' copper poles and cartridges poles because of the static electric they may mulfunction and colours may becaome totally mixed for a short while...

The hardware needs to clean the heads in a maintenance cycle, not just when you put the cartridges in. Hold down the computer start key when powering up to get in to maintenance mode.
This scrubs the heads 5 times before restarting.

This is taken out of the manual for your brother machine on cleaning the print head. I honestly don't think taking the machine appart will help that much in getting to the printheads, I beleive in these brother machines the printheads are built into the machine and can not be replaced easily. How to improve print quality Cleaning the print head To ensure good print quality, the MFC will regularly clean the print head. You can start the cleaning process manually if needed. Clean the print head and ink cartridges if you get a horizontal line in the text or graphics on your printed pages. You can clean Black only or three colors at a time (Cyan/Yellow/Magenta), or all four colors at once. Cleaning the print head consumes ink. Cleaning too often uses ink unnecessarily. Caution Do NOT touch the print head. Touching the print head may cause permanent damage and may void the print head?s warranty. 1 Press Ink. 2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select Cleaning. Press Menu/Set. 3 Press ▲ or ▼ to select Black, Color or All. Press Menu/Set. The MFC will clean the print head. When cleaning is finished, the MFC will go back to standby mode automatically.

Mg7120 won't print black on paper, but will print pictures with black just fine

It looks like you may have 2 black ink cartridges; one for black-and-white printing, and one for color printing. The larger one may have clogged nozzles. Run a cleaning cycle several times, and see if that solves it.
Other options which would be entirely at your own risk:
1. Dabbing the print nozzle head with warm water on a cotton swab.
2. As above with a mild solution of rubbing alcohol.
3. Soaking the print head overnight.
4. Applying vacuum to the print head.

My Canon printer does not print the color black, how can I fix?

If you have tried cleaning the nozzles as Oliver suggested. Try setting your paper type to 'high resolution' and try printing. If this works, your circuit board is probably the problem and you need to replace the printer after using up your inks in the 'high resolution paper' print mode

Not printing black

Sounds like the print head needs alignment. If an "auto" alignment can't or won't be run, somewhere in the maintenance section of your printer driver software should be an operation for running a print head alignment and doing adjustments to get the printer aligned for clear printing. First you should check the maintenance program for "head cleaning" and run a couple of head cleaning cycles to see if a clogged head is the problem...

My black ink is not working please tell me how to clean it

Hi

To clean it, remove the ink cartridge and rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows. Then run the print nozzle for 2 time for further cleaning the print head. Then try to print again.

Another way is to soak the print head only into a how water for 5 minutes until ink loose up and ink flows, rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows. Run the print nozzle and then try to print again

New ink no print

Hi Good day!! Try to do a printer maintenance
Cleaning a Clogged Print Head

1. Press the cleaning button located on the front of the printer. Hold it down for 3 seconds to begin the cleaning cycle.

2. Run a cleaning cycle using your Epson printer utilities program. In Windows, go to "Start," "Printers and Faxes," right-click on your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." Select the "Utility" or "Maintenance" tab, depending on your printer model, and click "Head Cleaning." When the head cleaning cycle is complete, run "Nozzle Check." Repeat the head cleaning and nozzle check one to three times.

3. To access the Epson printer utility in OS X, select the Epson Printer Utility icon in the Applications folder in Macintosh HD. If prompted, select your printer from the Printer List, then click "OK."

Clean the print head manually. Remove the ink cartridges from your printer according to the instructions in your owner's manual. Turn off your printer. Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol, ammonia or hot water and rub the swab against the print head. Let the printer sit overnight.

Remove the print head according to the instructions in your owner's manual. Soak the print head for at least an hour in a small dish of hot water or isopropyl alcohol.

Preventing Clogged Print Heads

1. Use your printer at least once a week. Regular use will keep dried ink from clogging your print heads. If you have a color inkjet printer, print full color pages in addition to black-and-white documents.

2. Turn your printer off when not in use. This will prevent warm ink from bleeding onto the print head. If you have to store your printer, remove the ink cartridges.

3. Use a cleaning kit regularly. A cleaning kit usually includes a tube of ammonia that you spray on the printer head to clean dry ink.

Printer does not print in color but only prints in

Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" -- the ink inside the cartridges is not getting through the ink-jets, and is not reaching the paper.

Either that, or the electronics inside the ink-jets are malfunctioning, i.e., not telling the ink-jets to shoot the ink out.

Black #16 wont print I just refilled cart. only prints in red

If your printer isn't rejecting the cartridge then it sounds like the print head is clogged. You can try to get it flowing again by rubbing/soaking the print head on a paper towel soaked with warm water. When it is flowing it should give a thick black line when pressed into a dry paper towel. You could also try running a nozzle cleaning cycle on your printer. The red you're seeing is the color that is added during black printing to make you use up your color cartridge when you aren't printing color. Fun fact huh?

Printing black through color mixing is very expensive!
Try this:
Remove the cartridges and print head.
Make a moxture of 15-20% ammonia and warm water solution.
Soak the head for an hour then completely dry it ,especially the electrical contacts.
Run a cleaning cycle and see if your nozzle check pattern improves.
If so run another clean and recheck or soak it again.
