My E1705 does finish coming up or turning on.

My E1705. When I power up the E1705 it comes to my Screen Page and doesn't finish initializing to where my tool bar or the program icons comes up. It just sits there for hours. I have tried to restore and it comes up the same. I have the lock #9 indicator on by the power button. Is computer locked up some how? Can I re-initalize it somehow to get it past this?

What kind of restore did you do with the E1705? Did you mean you retored it back to an earlier date? reinstalled the operating system? or did a PC Restore?

If the computer is booting up (you see the dell logo and then the windows logo) it could just be that your ram needs to be reseated, its very easy to do but if your not comfortable doing so any computer shop would be able to do it but most likely not for free. if that doesnt do it try to reseat the hard drive and or the wireless cards, any loose components can cause it to freeze, also if you have any USB Devices hooked to the computer during bootup make sure you remove them while troubleshooting. Past that it would be either a mechanical failure in the Harddrive of the computer or possibly failing memory or motherboard. You will need to do extensive troubleshooting to determine that. If you have a waranty with Dell they will walk you through the paces if your not sure what to do next you can ask me as well.

Good luck!

Best Regards,

B.

Unable to finish initializing

I'd suggest you get it for a refurd, thats either a faulty wire or faulty motherboard, had such issue at the end it turned out the power was too low, so check your AC too or house/workplace power.

Can the Dell Inspiron E1705 be operated on household power without a battery in place?

Hello,

Yes it can. Just remember that if the power cord comes off, then it will shut off immediately.

When I turn my laptop off or I am done using it, I close the lid/screen. The last time I used my laptop, the screen would not come on. It was a black screen, but I could very faintly see the windows...

It sounds like it did not properly go into stand by or hibernate. Try holding down the power button for about 5 or 6 seconds until you hear it power off. Then wait a few seconds and then turn it back on.

Be sure to email me back if you have any more questions orif you need any assistance with this solution. Thank you

The (9) light comes on, and the power light, and the third light, but the center hdd light dont blink, the screen dont even come on, statys on and fan is ruinning, but then the machine goes off goes off

first open your laptop then disconnect the ram, then turn on your laptop, is there any beep?usually 1 long and 2 short, if yes, this mean your ram was broken, you need to change with new one
if no and still turn on and off this like the problem is from your processor
change it with new one

"NO POS"

Have you gone through the "Initialize" process again? If the memory has been cleared you will need to re-initialize. Refer to page 4 of your manual. Power On > Select Language > "ENTER" > INITIALIZE screen > "ENTER" > Select Region > "ENTER" > Select Area > "ENTER" > Enter Elevation > "ENTER" (if you don't know elevation, press enter) > Enter Time > "ENTER" > Enter Date > "ENTER"
