Not only is there some kind of thin layer of dust on a lot of the dishes, but the silverware, glasses and plates are all spotted with dirty spots. The soap dispenser is opened, but leaving soap behind. I have used both liquid and powdered soap. I switched to powder on the advice of our technician. My thoughts: I spilled too much powder one time. Could it still be the problem? OR We worked with cement and some went down the drain - did it travel into the dishwasher as they are all attached? Is there something I can do to cleanse the system, like run a load with vinegar or something? I am using Rinse Aid, but it doesn't make a difference. Thanks!
The problem sounds like a hard water situation....Do you have hard water?...does your coffee pot take a long time to make coffee (an older coffee pot) if so you may consider a small water softener attached to the water inlet line or a water filtration device...as hard water will do just that..leave spots on the glasses and silverware as well as colored dishes, that look like little circles of whitish dried chemical or powder stains. Yes you can run a full bottle of vinegar in your dishwasher but monitor the cycle closely so it does not go into the drain cycle right away...and let it run through an extended wash cycle 2-3 times....before it drains so as to be able to maximize the effect...and as the aforementioned suggestion states you can also run some CLR through the system...BUT be CERTAIN to run it through several wash and rinse cycles after doing so as the chemicals in CLR are not healthy...and do not leave any dishes in as you do so (whereas vinegar is just Acetic acid and organically based). Also it is impossible for any concrete to have gotten into the dishwasher from anything poured down the kitchen sink drain since there is a valve in the drain pump called a "backflow preventer" that prohibits anything from entering the dishwasher. Also you may want to take out all the trays and remove the screem in the bottom of the dishwasher that covers the engine and pump assembly where the sprayer arm sits atop of. After doing so ( three -6 screws) clean anyfood or residue found ther out with a shop vac or something and reassemble.
I hope this helps....if so please let me know by rating me ...thank you....The Fang
Definately hard water is leaving the white, cloudy looking residue on your dishes. there is actually a new product out designed just for this problem. it is called the dishwasher filtration syste, what it does is filter the water going into your dishwasher removing the minerals that leave that residue. it is very affordable and has a money back guarantee. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. you will love the results
