Windows 7 cant pig up my external hard drive

Try to install the required drivers for the external USB-enclosure. If you did, you should verify if the connections inside the encloser is well connected, as you should also check if the included powersupply (adapter) will be sufficient to power the internal harddisk.
Another test is to connect the drive to a different USB-port at your computer, or,... even better, connect it to a different PC.

Another option is that the harddisk is not formatted. Some OS'es (like Windows) don't handle this well. You can look for Acronis Disk Dokter at Internet, to overcome this.
If all failed, well, then you got an hardware issue. Either the external enclosure is malfunctioning or the harddisk is defective.

Hi my Transcend 320 GB harddisk is not getting detected. Storejet 320Gb

hello

connect the USB external hard disk to usb port by the way disconnect other working harddisks
available on the system, boot the system with bootable cd/floppy go to command prompt and run
chkdsk on this drive

Also download "mbrfix" connect all working harddisks along with the nondetecting harddisk and run mbrfix for the USB defective harddisk

Try using different USB data transfer cable, if power source adapter is used check for rated power output in multimeter for this adapter, if found defective replace it with new/good adapter with same
specifications

Bad luck if harddisk controller has failed you have to go in for new harddisk

GOOD LUCK ooo

For that make sure usb cable works fine.
Try with different usb cable.
Also connect usb cable in different usb ports of computer.
Right click on my computer then click on proeperty then hardware->device manager.
Then click on sign of usb controllers then uniunstall all usb drivers 1 by 1.
then restart computer.
Then check.
If still not recognized then when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
then check.
in normal mode again.sometimes harddisk need to start in safe mode .
Let me know if you need more assistance.

Verbatim external harddisk drive 500 gb when i

Ouch!
If the installation disk that came with the drive has any sort of troubleshooting or recovery tool, try that first. If not, try the trial version of System Mechanic from Iolo. It's a really good piece of software that could help recover the data if possible.

As a last resort, the Verbatim website suggests Norton Disk Doctor or Data Rescue X. They may have free trials. You'll have to check their website.

Beyond this, you're probably looking at a professional data recovery company. That can be expensive!

Good luck! Remember to rate the solutions!

Since you have not given any specifications about model of your HDD hence I'd consider your HDD connects through USB. Your USB driver is old you shall consider upgradation.
