Konica Minolta E500: The LCD screen has gone blank

The LCD screen of the camera has goe blank. It is showign that the card has space for 40 photos. I have checked all the other functions and they seem to be working fine. On switching on the camera, the lens pushes out but the LCD screen is blank.

Please help as the camera manual has nothing on this.

How do i down load photos onto my computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE E500

I disagree it is a CCD problem. Turn the camera on and observe the diaphram in the lens to see if it opens. If it opens you should see the CCD under a strong light. If not then the problem is with the shutter that allows live view. This model and also Minolta E500 and Vivitar all use the same chassis and all have this shutter problem. I still haven't figured out how to fix it though.
