Mark I Series fridge not freezing

My Whirlpool Mark I Series fridge seems to have stopped. The motor isn't running, but the light is on. The fridge seems to be cooling a little, but the freezer is not working.

Please list the complete model number found inside the refrigerator on on the door frame. With the model number I will be able to help you better. If your refrigerator is an older model then with what you described could possibly be a defrost timer gone bad. Let me know what you find, Thanks,Sea Breeze

    Need Help with one of those. The problem is exactly as the question says. The Model is Mark Series ED26MM. Can you help me with it please, I want to know what's going on and why the freezer does not freeze stuff.

    The compressor is not running? Feel the top of the compressor and let me know if it is hot and making a clicking sound every five or so minutes when refrigerator is trying to work

Hi Gerardine.
The evaporator fan motor circulates the cold air from the coils thru the compartment. If there is only one evaporator it is in the freezer side. If the fan is not working, no cold air will get to the refrigerator compartment. The freezer may still get cold.

Hi, Sounds like there was/is a leak in the refrigerant system...
Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.

Hi Lollipop, partially working fridge? A fridge either works or not, cold air is made in freezer then distributed to fridge via a vent. In your case WBM Series fridge, top mount freezer blows air down a vent (back centre of chiller compartment). A common fault with the WBM Series is both the PCB and Interface Panel (PCB beside compressor back of fridge, Interface is display panel front of fridge).
So if freezer is cold and fridge not, try a fan motor. If compressor doesn't work either comp is faulty or PCB has blown(has a burning smell).. Hope this helps you and maybe many other ppl.

Candy Fridge - The freezer part is not cold enough, fridge ok!
A couple of things to check-
- Is the condensor cooling fan running? This will be located to push air through the external cooling coils, wherever they are located.
- Does the auto-defrost timer work? It may have failed and stayed in a position that has left the heating elements (for defrosting) turned on.
- Does it seem to be running way too long and not turning off as it once did? This could indicate either a loss of coolant (would need recharge and leak detection) or the compressor is reaching its end of life. If the latter is the problem, expect a cost of $200-$400 US.
