Hi,

The laptop has 2 memory banks. Each bank will support 1GB 400Mhz, so maximum memory the motherboard supports is 2GB.

Regards.

HP Pavilion dv7 ram upgrade, came with 4gb ram, supposedly is able to upgrade to 8gb, is this possible?

Yes. The specifications say the MAX memory is 8GB

Memory 4096MB Memory Max 8192MB
You should go to Crucial.com and run their online tool for ram upgrades. It will tell you exactly how much and what type of memory to add.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Ram upgrading

u can check with Dell...but mind it...there is a limit to up ur RAM....though u may upgrade ur RAM to 7GB ur processor may not be able to handle that much of data that travels thru the RAM....so beyond a limit any extra RAM is of no use....
so check with Dell how much RAM it can hold to the MAX

How to Upgrade to max RAM

The Acer Aspire One can be upgraded to a total RAM of 2Gigs. This will allow for you to upgrade to Windows XP Pro and also to Microsoft Office 2003 as there is no version of Office Professional. If you would like more specifics on your particular model, please look here. http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/acer-aspire-one-10-inch.aspx?page=3

Upgrading RAM is a fairly simple process. As this is a fairly compact laptop in design, you will have to upgrade to a new 2Gig RAM module and basically discard (or sell) the one you end up removing. In order to find out the type of RAM you'll need, remove the cover as show in the picture and the info for the existing RAM should be written on it.

Good luck!

Etower 633id runs very slow. Only has 64MB of RAM.

Normally upgrading bios does not require flashing the bios. But in order to find out the max amount you can upgrade too requires some info off the motherboard. You need to get the model number off the board to look up the info
