Reformat of XD card - comes up with card error

Camedia C-750 - put new XD128MB card in camera - switch camera on - CARD SETUP - select FORMAT - select YES - OK - card error shows every time. If this is an internal problem, is there a program via the net so that I can format my card and then use it in my camera? I have a 2GB card, but apparently this model will not accept above 500MB?

I have the Olympus Camedia C-750 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera and my XD card is 128MB. I have photos on the card but I can't download them onto my computer, since everytime the camera is switched on I am at CARD SETUP, so I only have two options either format or power off. I have had a few problems with this camera like the lens not closing so there is obviously a problem with this brand. Any bright ideas. Thank you

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is an M or H 512mb card. The 1gb or 2gb cards are not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.

As far as the 128mb card is concerned if it gets a card error message try cleaning off the gold contacts on the back of the card and reinserting it to the camera. If it still gives an error it may be a problem with the internal card reader in the camera.

Try formatting the card on your pc, connect the card to a card reader, open my computer find the card, right click format, try standard fat first and format. if that doesn't work try Fat 32.

Olympus xD-Picture Card "Card Error"

First things first - need to make sure that the card is making proper electrical contact with the camera. Have a look at the contacts at the edge of the card and make sure they are spotlessly clean - even a fingerprint may cause problems.

Also, make sure the contacts in the camera have nothing causing a contact problem, and see if this resolves the issue.
