right click on your scandisk cruzer select properties
you will see an array of options select customize tab then select restore default

I have nothing on my 8gb sandisk cruzer usb flash drive but it says i only have a tiny bit of space left on it and it says im using 7gb. i want to put music on it but it wont let me.

Plug it into your computer and format it, that should give you all your space back. If you need help with this please just let me know.

Format it again, and choose HPFS, instead of FAT32.

Sandisk Cruzer 8gb Error

Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. I'd also try the thumb drive in a different computer just to make sure the problem isn't with the thumb drive itself. The drive could also be unformatted, or formatted with a filesystem for a different platform that can't be read by XP.

I"ve seen a couple of these do this and the flash disc is broken and not working. Probably nothing you can do to fix it.

How format SanDisk cruzer Micro 8GB

copy the files to you're pc, and if you use windows just go in my computer and right click on the flash disk icon and click format check the quick format box and the press format.

Loss of space on junk drive

With it plugged in, open the Recycle Bin on your Desktop and see if all your deleted files are in there.... if they are, empty the Recycle Bin & all your space will be freed up.

If that is not the problem, reformat the Cruzer and all your space should be available again.

If not, your Cruzer is defective.

There might be a hidden file(s) on the drive that are taking up that space. Open the drive in My Computer, click Tools > Folder Options... On the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders. Then check the drive to see if any hidden files or folders are present.

You can also try formatting the drive. Right click the drive in My Computer and click Format...
