The yellow light next to the flash icon is blinking?
I'm charging my camera after about 7 months without use, and when I plug in my charger, the light next to the flash thing is blinking. Sometimes it blinks for a couple of seconds, and other times it blinks nonstop for a couple of minutes. My camera won't turn on. I've been charging it for about an hour. Any suggestions to my problem?
that's happening to me right now also. i plugged the charger in around 5pm and the green light is still blinking til now and the times 11.24pm. i dont know if somethings wrong with it?!

Coolpix Cameras are tricky to use with chargers. I will assume your USB Charger EH-69P is 100 - 240V 50/60 Hz so it CAN work in many places around the world with an adapter. Do not go over 240V or you could damage it.
These cameras like to have the power supply connected when it is on to charge - meaning if you have it connected and you plug the charger in the wall it will NOT charge. So if you plug the charger in the wall first and then plug the cable in the camera it will work. The camera is actually ON when it charges and I never REMOVE the memory card when it is ON.
When you have a dead battery. Plug the camera in and make sure the ON LED lights and the Charge LED flashes. Then don't mess with it. Let it charge completely (Charge LED stops flashing and is OFF) and then unplug it. It will turn off. Then later you can turn it on.
Had same problem with blinking lights and not charging.
Plug charger base in (blinking lights), remove controllers, and plug USB cable into front charge slot (behind hinged panel). This reset charger base and lights stopped blinking. As FYI - the USB was connected to other device (charging it). Add the controllers and correct charging lights show up - including the controller 1 and 2 symbols. Controllers now charging.
As Suzaku explained:
A battery icon will show up on the LCD screen of your camera when it is already low and needs recharging. It can be found at the lower right side of your LCD screen. The ready light of your camera will also blink red and your camera will turn off if the battery is exhausted.
NOTE:
The icon will not appear if the batery is sufficient and there is no TECH way of making the icon show until the batt needs charging.
sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)
sounds like your battery or charger might be defective. I have this camera an when the battery is to low it flashes the screen.
I still use the original charger that came with it to charge the batteries, been thru 4 of those. It seems if they set a while without being charged the go bad.
My camera is actually a Nikon Coolpix 6S100, not a Nikon Coolpix 3100.
