Dvd to amp to tv hookup has little to no connections

I setup hdmi cables 1 from dvd to amp,1 from cable box to amp, and one from amp to tv.
Sometimes there is no problem and i can watch hdmi dvd's no problems. But most times i have this reoccurring problem, when i try to watch a dvd my tv screen flashes picture of the movie along with some sound then it cuts out. The amp seems to flash the hdmi connection from the dvd player on and off also.
Wiggleing the hdmi chord or even taking it out then putting it back in seems to help sometimes. But allot of times i get fustrated and walk away for a while then try it again. I know that the hdmi chords are very sensitive, so i was wondering if there is any advise for this.
just wondering if it's a connection problem or maybe a programming problem

It is a lose connection symptom when you wiggling the chord it will be fine it is a cold solder its needs to resolder the connection base so it become firm and works normal again.

Hope it may helps you;

New 50" hisense tv .. unable to use hdmi for cable box .. tried different cables and all 3 hdmi outlets on tv ????

There might be a setting on your cable box for audio output. Use the cable remote and look in the audio section of the settings menu and select HDMI output. Mine is under Audio Digital Output in the Audio/Video menu.

How do I connect my hdtv cable box to the tv/monitor. There is no hdmi input on the tv.

Your setup has a TV/Monitor and a audio/video box. The A/V box is connected to the TV and other source inputs connect to the A/V box. Hookup your cable box to the A/V box either using component video (green, blue, red) RCA cables from cable box outputs to the A/V box inputs OR the A/V box also has a DVI/HDMI input jack which may work using a HDMI cable.
Select the proper source.

How to connect motorola cable box to samsung dvd/vcr model vr375 to a Westinghouse hdtv with 2 hdmi connections

The DVD-VR375 does not have an HDMI input. The connection should be:
• RED WHITE & YELLOW CABLE from your cable box (AV OUT) should connect to the DVD-VR375 (AV IN 1). Set the DVD-VR375 to AV 1 using the INPUT SEL. button.
• Next, connect an HDMI cable from the DVD-VR375 (HDMI OUT) to the TV (HDMI IN). Set the TV to the proper source.
This connection would allow the recorder to work as a pass through and will let you record TV programs as well as watch your cable channels.

Hope this helps!

Hookup wrong? I can't get the menu to come up for the VR375

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

Hookup diagram for Yamaha avr-863 receiver

It's the other way around.

Hook up the Cable box to the Amp; and the blu-ray to the amp, then connect amp to LCD.

you want to use the best available options for audio:
HDMI > Digital Optical > Digital Coax > standard RCA

And the similar for video:
HDMI > Component > SVideo > RCA cables

I would connect Blu-Ray via HDMI to Amp, and Cable box via HDMI to Amp. If your cable box does NOT support HDMI, but you have an HD package, ask your cable company for an upgraded box.

Amp freezes when tv channel is changed

Are you using the HDMI for video AND audio or just video? Are you using the reciever as the video switcher by routing your devices into the amp and then from the out of the amp to the TV and then back to the amp from the TV HDMI output and the digital output? You may have a loop going on and the amp can't handle it.
If you are coming out of the TV with both HDMI and digital hooked to the same input selection on the amp and have the amp set for auto signal select, it could be throwing the amp for a loop and causing it to freak. From what I can see in the specs for that amp it has 2 HDMI in for connecting a HiDef Sat/Cable box, a DVD or Blu-Ray player or a gaming console, and then 1 output to the TV. HDMI handles both audio and video. Disconnect the digital cable and just use the HDMI for both audio and video.
The optimal set up would be as follows:

With a cable or sat box with HDMI out, go to the HDMI input to the TV. From the TV use either HDMI OR digital to the amp, not both. If you have Blu-Ray or HDMI DVD, connect that to the other HDMI input on the TV.

If the TV has only 1 HDMI input then connect the Cable or Sat box to one of the amp HDMI inputs and the Blu-Ray/DVD to the other and then from the HDMI out to the HDMI in to the TV with NO audio cable from the TV to the amp. Then use the cable remote to change channels.

See if one of those connection maps works for you.

If you need more help, let me know. Include the TV model and the digital audio cable interface type, whether it is optical or coax. It would also help knowing if you are using a Satellite or Cable box and which one it is.

Cheers
