I have the same problem, in addition if I shut down monitor and/or computer it's 50/50 whether or not i'll be able to get the monitor to show anything besides black screen,or the lines..have had to cross fingers and keep trying to turn it back on, then leave it on indefinitely. Tried this monitor on three different pc's with same problem:-(

I fixed it! It's the power supply board.

The Westinghouse LCM 22w2 has bad capacitors on the yellow power supply board. This is a common problem plaguing motherboards and LCD flatpanels that use capacitors from Taiwan. If you know how to solder, or know somebody that can, it's actually a pretty easy fix. Take out the yellow circuit board on the inside, write down the specifications for each of the capacitors (the cylindrical things) go to the electronics supply store and get the replacement capacitors. You can go over the voltage specification (not under), but keep the capacitance value matching. Replace one at a time. Go to www.badcaps.net for advice, tutorials and training on doing this. *You really should replace all the capacitors*, but the very large one next to the power plug I did leave on the board because I couldn't find a match. To my delight, the problem went away and it was working as new!

I saved a ton of money fixing this, it's definitely worth learning how to solder to do this.

My hp vs 15 displays vertical color stripes that alternate different colors wether its hooked up tp computer or not what is wrong, is it junk

It may sound strange but be absolutely sure the cable is plugged into the monitor. Adapter on the computer. The serial adapter on the back looks just like video. Video actually has a faintly noticeable monitor icon rigtht next to it. Plugging into a serial can eventually blow out your monitor. Also, a.badcable can do the same thing. And if you have messed up the monitor's settings you will see the same

Black colour displaying become greenish and narrow vertical lines

Most LCD monitors have a default refresh rate of 60 Hz. Older monitors also have limited resolution. Please check your display settings and ensure you're not using a refresh rate higher than 60, or a resolution higher than what it supports. If either one is the case, you're lucky the LCD still works.

Dell flat screen goes white and colored block appears and floats

Check that your monitor is connected properly and tightly to the computer. If it is, then the monitor may be bad. Borrow a friend's monitor and try to see if it works, if someone else's monitor works, then replace your monitor.

Thin vertical line appears on projector

I have found that vertical lines that suddenly appear from projectors are due to poorly connected cables. Sut off your projector and wait for the fan to go off. Then unplug the connectors from the computer to the projector and secure them again, making sure to go all the way. Hope this helps.
