Spot on pictures

There is a blury spot on lcd and on pictures which is quite diffuse without magnification but becomes smaller and more distict when the zoom is used. I have cleaned the exterior lens but to no avail. Could dust or something got inside the lens housing? and if so, how hard is it to dismantle and clean the lens assembly? Thanks

Changhong tv board# V500DK2-CKS2 ********* part near center of this board gets very hot. No picture, no sound. Standby light goes off. Could this board be the problem?

That board has large chips on it and you did not say if it is one of the chips that is getting hot. The board has surface mounted parts and they require special tools to work on. An infrared camera is needed to spot smaller components that are overheating and a magnification unit and special rework station to solder parts.

How To Use A Spotting Scope For Shooting

If you practice hunting and shooting, a spotting scope is one of the best instruments that you need to have to provide you with a clear view when you are aiming at your target. Before we get started on how to use a spotting scope for shooting, it is great if you know what exactly a spotting scope is.
Precisely, a spotting scope is a small device that is used for many outdoor activities to magnify and help you watch images and objects closely. Before purchasing the best spotting scope for shooting, you need to know a few things that will help you use it well in your shooting career. Here are some things that you need to know when using a spotting scope for shooting.

Comfortable Position Is Key
If you want to get the best performance from your spotting scope, ensure that you position yourself in a comfortable place. You know when you are using a spotting scope you will be holding it for long so it is very crucial to find a comfortable place that you can sit or lay down depending on what you find best. Make sure you find a comfortable place and learn more about the specifications of the area which should be the point of targeted area.

Attach Your Scope To A Tripod
Sometimes holding your scope with your hands can compromise the quality of images that you get because of shaking and fatigue. If you want to achieve a clear and accurate view, get a tripod and attach to your scope. This means that your scope will be very stable because there are minimal movements so you end up getting very accurate results. When you are using a tripod, the chances of missing your target are very minimal.

Adjusting The Magnification
You should also adjust the magnification of your spotting scope to a level that you like. Spotting scopes are designed differently so you need to know how to adjust magnification and the lens layout of your scope. For the most accurate results, it is great if you read the instruction given about the magnification levels and how to adjust.
In some spotting scopes, you need to use the lens knob so that you can zoom in and out of the magnification. In other scopes, you need to use the small zoom in and zoom round trigger on the point of the eyepiece.

View Target Area And Adjust Magnification
When you are using spotting scopes, it is not advisable to go with the magnification first because you might not get the right results. The best thing that you can do is to view the target area first and then adjust the magnification effectively.

Reset Focus In A New Area Always
This is very important because a sudden highly magnified glass can cause problems to your eyes. This means you can feel uneasy when you are watching your target longer. This results because of watching at a very high magnification glass for a prolonged period. You can overcome the problem by reducing the effect of the magnify glass on your eyes.

Beating The Sun
If you want to become a spotting scope pro, you must learn how to beat the sun. You need to know how to deal with the frustrating heat waves because they quickly distort your view and it becomes difficult to grass. The best way in which you can beat the sun is to zoom out. Zoom out to a lower power setting and you will enjoy heat-wave glassing hours. You should wait for passing cloud because they reduce the heat wave and give you the chance to zoom back in your target.

Final Words
Buying the best spotting scope for shooting is not enough. You also need to learn how to use it so that you can get clear and bright images all the time. This will help you gain accuracy when you are shooting so no more missed shots. If you learn these tips, you will not experience any problem when you are hunting or shooting. Knowing how to use your scope is the only way in which you will get most out of it when shooting. Best Spotting Scope to buy in 2017 Buying Guide Reviews

How to Spotting Scopes Work?

Spotting Scope is a type of telescope typically used for observing wild animals and birds. A spotting scope features more magnification than a conventional binocular but less than an astronomical telescope.
The utility of a spotting scope becomes most obvious when the identification of an animal going in a large herd is required. Figuring out a specific animal from other look-alike animals becomes easy with such a device. For digiscoping purposes, few things can beat the power of spotting scopes. It is possible by using binoculars or telescopes to take a closer look at birds or other animals, but if you want a precise view of your target animal, a spotting scope is preferable.
Spotting Scope Features Explained
  • Objective lens
Objective lens, also known as the Front lens, determines the image quality at higher magnifications. The diameter of this lens ranges from 50-100mm in size. It is also called "Aperture" of the lens. It is wise to buy the highest size of the objective lens considering its weight. Larger lenses allow to pass more light and create more bright images. This means you will get higher image quality with the larger lenses.
  • Lens Coating
Manufactures often apply the chemical coating, which is known as Lens Coating, on the lens to reduce noise and increase light transmission. They also offer "fully coated," "multi-coated" and "fully multi-coated" lens to improve image quality. The premium quality spotting scopes' lenses are multi-coated with multiple layers on the surface.
  • Focusing
There are two types of focusing mechanism in the spotting scopes such as Helical and Knob focusers. The focusing characteristics determine how quickly you can focus on the object with maximum precision. Between these two options, the helical focuser is the finest option for birding as it can change magnification rapidly along with the movement of the bird. For hunting or spotting slower animals, Knob focuser is best as it gives you more precise information than the former one.
  • Eye relief
The eyepiece remains at a little distance from the users' eyes. This distance is called the eye relief where the light rays transmitted from the object pass to enter into your pupil. The comfortable eye relief distance is about 15mm to see the full field view. This feature is very important for those who wear eyeglasses. Nowadays, manufacturers are offering long eye relief for those who need to wear eyeglasses for convenient viewing.
  • Image Quality
You might have seen some designation on the glass label of the spotting scope such ED glass, APO glass, HD glass, Fluorite glass. These special qualities of glass will cost you more but create a huge difference in image quality comparing low-quality lenses. Remember, you must pay for the good quality images when it comes to buying any types of optical instruments.
  • Magnification
The magnification of spotting scope is higher than standard binoculars and varies between 15x to 75x. The power of the eyepiece determines the magnification of the scope. The important fact you should know that image quality drops off as the magnification goes up. Even premium quality scopes also lose a little quality at the highest magnification.
The condition of the atmosphere has effects on birding, hunting and digiscoping too. Humidity, ever-moving air, dry climates, dust and so on hinders the magnification and image quality at large.

Just bought a starnavigator 114. Purchased a Barlow lens to use with my 26mm lens, but with the barlow I can't see anything. Do I need to make changes in the lens config. in the Autostar?

The barlow may be too much magnification for that aperture telescope. The higher the magnification the SMALLER the sweet spot is in focus.

Turn the knob slower and also practice focusing during the day time on a distant object.

Grey cloud

This sounds like a diffuser problem. Basically the LCD Panel is defective.

32" LCD TV use about 8 horizontally mounted flourescent bulbs. They use a plastic material that diffuses (spreads) the light from each bulb evenly on the screen. If this Diffusion Material becomes wrinkled it will leave a grey cloudy look on the screen.

It is possible that the LCD Panel Glass is defective buy honestly I would guess the diffuser.

This isn't cheaply repairable and it is better to replace the TV unless you are experinced with Electronics repair. There may be a possibility to pull this material out and replace it with something readily available from Home Depot but I have not tried this before. It is possible to pull this from another LCD TV.

DSC w5 has a spot in every picture

Assuimn there is nothing on the lens[I would not think this is the case as it would not show as a distict spot Not ne fora DIY or a repairshop this is a a failure of the CCD. Depending on the age of the camera and model this may qualify for replacement, as there was a reported CCD issue at one time Either that or Sony may offer a replacement at a good discount.
