I bought a new Sentry DSW3607 safe and proceeded to open it for the first time. I removed the interior screw and the small black screw at the base of the electronic lock case, installed 4 new AA batteries and replaced the electronic lock case and its base screw. Everything lit up as advertised but I accidentally closed the safe door before entering an access code. Now, I can't open the safe regardless of what codes I use. Why would Sentry design a safe that can't be opened if you're a technically challenged senior like myself and who accidentally closed the safe door before I set up a access code? HELP!!!!!!!!!
I finally ignored the poorly-written instructions for programming a personal code and simply entered the factory code first and then pressed the prog/enter code button. The safe opened. The instructions tell you to push the prog/enter code first and then enter the factory code or personal code to open the safe. Wrong! Do it my way should this problem happen to you.
That is correct the instructions to open it with the factory code should preceed the programming code - you need to try with the facotry code before you program your own code.
