DVDs presumed stuck and the player won't eject

After receiving this version from my 5 year old son, it appears that there are two DVDs stuck in my Onkyo DV-CP702 changer. The changer will not eject, and it comes up with the message "mech err" on the visual diaplay. Can anyone let me know ifthis problem is fixable and if so what the next step is. thanks.

Beauty Mate, thats done the trick, all solved. Thanks for your help.

Had the exact same problem. Did have some discs stuck in there and got them out by shaking the machine upside down. However, after I got them out and plugged it back in I still had the same "Mecha Err" problem.

I decided to unscrew the top and take a peak under there and lo-and-behold there was still another disc in there that had gotten wedged under a metal tab.

Put the machine back together and it worked. Never hurts to "look under the hood."

Just encountered same issue (Mech Err) and same solution worked. Turning on side released four cds. Had to remove top cover to remove the remaining two. Put it back together, plugged it in and it works!

Hi, If you feel comfortable opening the unit, then you may remove the top cover normally held by 2 - 4 screws. The tray should be visible and most units have a locking bar right at the center to hold the discs down. Removing this (2 screws normally, 1 at each end of the bar) would expose fully the tray with the 2 discs on top. Remove the discs and put the locking bar back with the screws. You can test the unit without the top cover. Please be reminded about safety precaution when working with active/live units and laser equipment. Power it up and check if the "mech err" still shows. If not you're set to cover it up, otherwise, your probably better off seeking the services of a qualified technician. This is a generic method which normally should apply to most CD/DVD units. Good luck and kind regards.

I just had a new room mate move in yesterday. And had this problem with his cd changer while he was out getting more of his stuff. I took the top off and found 2 cd's one on top of the other. I think I'll keep this one to my self. Thanks so much!!!!!!

I have a NV-DX110B about 11 years old. I'm getting

Your camera appears slightly older than mine so I will do my best for you. Have you tried ejecting the tape with the power off? If I have problems I slide the eject button when the camera is off but plugged in and the tape can be ejected. I suspect the tape mechanism is in trouble. When a tape stuck in mine I had to literally force the cover open. But this is a last resort.

Give my suggestion a try and apologies if you have already tried that...

DVD won!t EJect at all

The DVD might be stuck in the disc tray for whatever reason. To get it out, you could remove all the screws on the back and bottom. Slide out the cover to retrieve the DVD. Plug it in to see if it still works. If it still appears to be working, put it back together and hope that future DVDs won't get stuck.

My 3 year olded put 2 dvds in the player and it s jamed, wont eject. Any suggestions?

Either try and tease it out through the slot using an old CD with a piece of double sided tape stuck to the edge.

If that does not work , then the player will have to be removed from the dashboard and the cover taken off to gain access to the jammed CDs inside

IMPORTANT : Make sure you have the security code BEFORE removing it (assuming that you radio requires a Security Code)

Here is a useful website showing how to remove different radios + CD players.

DVD will not Eject

answer - had the same issue turned out to be 3 dvds in it, Remove the 4 screws holding the dvd player to the roof. wire harness will hold it up. There is an fm transmitter on top held on by three screws. remove the little screws and push the transmitter to the side. you winn now see the stuck dvds. push the extras out with a small screw driver. once they are out the eject button will eject the last dvd.
just worked for me hope this helps.

WILL MY DVD PLAY AREA 1 AND AREAV4 DVD'S?

Hi camonk2004,

It's interesting that your DVD player was purchased in Russia but plays Region 1 DVDs. Region 1 is North America. Does your Player also play Russian DVDs (region 5)? If so, then it has probably been modified to play DVDs from multiple regions.

Check the back side of the DVD player - the rear panel should have a Region number on it. If the region number is 1, then try playing a Region 5 DVD. If it reads the DVD, then the modification that was done in Russia will probably allow it to read any DVD. IF the Region 5 DVD won't play (or if it is ejected automatically), then your player's region control os still intact, and it will only play DVDs from the same region as the one listed on the rear panel of the player (or DVDs marked "ALL").

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind Regards,
H2H

Two dvd's stuck in player thanks to a busy toddler

I had the same problem... my DVD took one in even though it already had one in there... Tweezers did not work until we used a pie server covered in masking tape with the DVD attempting to eject and then grabbed one DVD out. The DVD player works too!

DVD player won't eject dvds

I am not a pro...did this process early today.
1.Remove 5 screws from bottom center dash. This peice has the cubby with change slots. There are 2 on the left side, 2 in front and 1 on the right. Pull out of the way.
2.Pull cup holder all the way out and depress tab on the very back of the top. Slide out and remove.
3.Pry small peice of plastic out of the way carefully with screwdriver. Remove.
4.Revove 2 screws that where hidden by this small part. Begin prying the dvd and radio surround off from the bottom, there are no more screws. Either let dangle to the side or unplug and revome from car.
5.Remove 2 screws to release dvd player. Unplug 2 seperate connections and remove. If you have change in it, shake upside down a little while slightly depressing the top to give room for $ to fall out. For 2 dvd just work out carefully while trying to line up the dvd with the opening.
Hope this helps someone! Kris
