I have an htc vivid that I converted to straight talk and I get terrible signal when im trying to send mms, sms, accessing the internet or making a phone call, no matter where im at, I have tried several different apn settings and none of them have made it any better, some actually worse, is there an apn setting that I could use for my specific area that might help? any help with this issue would be great. my zip code is 47283.
thank you,
barry

I have to go to Gallery, go to the photo I want to send, select Share, then select the Messaging app. On my Messaging app there isn't a way from selecting a photo.
For receiving photos, see if they are automatically put in your folder, like contact info is put directly in your contacts list without even opening the message - and if you did open it, it would show a blank message.
Usually refilling a phone does not change the apn settings, so you must check it to see if there has been any changes, this what it allows you to access the internet and mms.
had the problem going through forums trying to find the settings that work for my phone but to no success but I finally figured it out and I'm posting it on here just in case some one else has my same problem.
I had to create two separate APN's one for internet and one for MMS. Settings are as follows:
Internet:
Name: Straight Talk Internet
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
User Name: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: Not Set
MMS Proxy: Not Set
MMS Port: Not Set
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: PAP or CHAP
APN Type: Internet
APN Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MMS
Name: Straight Talk MMS
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
User Name: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: PAP or CHAP
APN Type: Internet+MMS
APN Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Do not forget to create two separate APN's!!!!!
go into settings and find where to add APN. Type these in exactly as stated...everything else leave blank. Name: Straight Talk APN;att.mvno Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com Port: 80 MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com MMS proxy: 66.209.11.33 MMS port: 80 Then shut off phone and power back on.
You have the same issue I do, but I am using Straight Talk (AT&T reseller, but also re-sell Verizon in some areas). I have changed the APN settings under the "cellular" field to make internet work, but MMS is still broken. I read the following link, which explains that we need to manually configure the MMSA and MCC settings under that same APN field, but they are not visible without an app. called "connection manager". The problem is, I cannot find that anywhere! Keep an eye on my "problem" listing and I will do the same for you. When someone posts a fix to either, it should fix us both. http://www.wpcentral.com/windows-phone-7-unlocked-devices-and-mms-quite-mess
