I had the same problem,tried to update to 3.15 and kept getting error code as above.Isolved the problem by reformatting hhd and installing v3.00 fw from recovery menu via usb stick.

I scoured the net to find the error code and came up blank. What happens when you try to run a game? If you are on the main screen and the game doesn't start on it's own, do you go to the game icon and click start? What happens after that? Any type of error, or message?
I've read a few things about Madden 08 freezing 360's, but nothing really out there about PS3's. Maybe you can call Sony to see if they have any suggestions. The only suggestion I can give is to reset the PS3 to factory settings and then try to update again. I THINK if you reset to factory settings, you'll lose all your save information, so try to make backup prior to doing so, or just use the restore as a last resort. I would probably waste an hour on the phone with Sony first to see if they have any less severe suggestions.

During the attempt to update to the latest PS3 drivers, I encountered error code 8002F149. The system repeatedly tries to reinstall the updates that were easily obtained thanks to the input by Dallange but always come back to this error.
Do you what the error message is?
I have contacted SONY about this error and they have confirmed the death of my game console. A replacement is currently in the works through the warranty process.
Just opened this thing for my son ( ps3 80gb) got the error 8002f149. I cant tell you how happy I am. Tomorrow is christmas eve and all he wanted and all I got him was the ps3. I should have taken him to vegas. Of course sony after I found the phone number for Sony it was closed. I can only hope that because none of their employees are from this country that they will be open tomorrow
I am having this same problem, but unfortunately I modded my PS3 with a manually powered disc eject, to play my imported ps2 games so I can't rely on the warranty. I need a real "FIX" for "ps3 update error 8002f149" I dont know if I can maybe reformat the HDD through a computer or maybe there is some other way. But I really need some help!
