Slow draining tub.

After using my shower / tube the water drains very slowly. I've tried using a bacterial drain & trap cleaner but that has't worked. The tub is about 20yrs old.

You need to run a snake through the overflow. I'm sure there is hair that is caught in it. You remove the overflow cover. The p-trap is just about 8 to 12 inches below. There isn't a need to go any further but it doesn't hurt.

Slow shower drain fix.

This tip will show you how to fix a slow tub drain. In my experience most slow shower and tub drains are caused by hair. Usually within reach of a wire hanger. Since you probably do not have all the proper tools, you must be careful not to damage your drain line.

The trickiest part with most shower drains, is the pop up assembly. Most times the hair is caught on the pop-up components. If you have a pop-up, check with your local hardware guy to show you how it works and is assembled. On a pop-up, you'll have to take the drain plug/cap off. have the cap in up position, and get your eyes below the cap rim, you will see a small set screw, a couple turns and cap should come off, do not take set screw all the way out. If you see hair on assembly after taking assembly out, remove the hair and run some water to see how your drain is working. If that does not fix your slow drain, you should stop there and call a plumber, because that means you blockage is further down the line then you'll be able to reach.

If you have no pop-up assembly. Untwist hanger, make as straight as possible, then with a pair of needle nose or any pliers you have, go about a half inch in from the hook side. Make a U bend, about the same size and shape of the end of a paper clip. Go in drain a inch and turn hanger in a circle trying to catch the hair blockage. Twist a couple times and pull back gently, do not push hanger in to far, you might break your pipe or the hanger may get caught in the p-trap or even worse drum-trap,(older houses tend to have drum-traps, I suggest not to even attempt to clear any blockage were a drum-trap is involved, call a plumber)

If its hair, you will see this black sludge looking hair ball that may make you sick. Don't worry you'll be happy when all is said and done, and you can shower without standing in your own filth. If its not hair, you probably have a more serious problem. Call a plumber and make sure your plumber gives free estimates.

My Electrolux washer dryer seems not to be draining the water after a wash, I think there is some fluff that has been turned into a putty due to water blocking the pump from doing its job, does anyone know...

do you use powder detergent--if so it could be clay mud from undissolved powder
it it is fluff or other organic material , you may try an organic drain cleaner or possible a caustic solution cleaner if the organic doesn't work
you can check for blocked drain and pump bu lowering then drain hose to floor level
if the tub drains out freely , it will nor be a blockage but a pump problem

When letting the water out of the sink the water backs up and comes up in the shower how to fix please

Your sink drain is higher than your shower drain.
When water is going down the sink drain it hits a blockage with nowhere to go it backs up and it flows through the drain to your shower.
You have a blockage in your drain pipe T connecting your sink drain and the shower drain.
That's the only thing I can think of. You can try to snake it yourself or call a plumber.

Put a cup of Baking Soda in drain, then add two cups white vinegar! This should foam like crazy wait ten minutes ,run real hot water.
you may have to repeat a couple times.
this will not hurt pipes unlike some drain cleaners.

Smell of rotten eggs in shower drain

This is likely "sewer gas" and can cause headaches, dizziness, etc. if you remain exposed to it for a prolonged period of time. This originates mostly in the drain openings of fixtures that are seldom used - such as sinks and showers of basements, guest rooms, etc.

When these fixtures do not get used regularly, the relatively small amount of water that is designed to always be present in the "trap" portion of the drain pipe eventually evaporates. This trapped water prevents the the gasses in the sewer / septic system from passing through the trap. Without it, these gasses will rise through the pipes connected to the sewer / septic system and exit into your living space via the drain opening in the floor drain, shower, tub, sink and even toilet if left unused long enough.

It is usually resolved very easily by slowly pouring about a 1/2 gallon of water down the drain. The water now isolates the drain opening from the sewer / septic system and effectively stops odors from escaping. If you find that this is happening regularly (often from floor drains in dry basements) you should slowly pour water 1/2 gallon of water into the drain, and then add 2 to 3 ounces of cooking oil. The oil is lighter than water and will sit on top of the water surface. Oil does not evaporate and blocks the water from evaporating through it. Evaporation of the water in the trap will take place from the sewer / septic side of the trap, but it occurs at a much slower rate.

After filling the traps with water or water & oil, just ventilate and you're done!

I have a large whirlpool tub in MB on 1st floor. When letting water out of tub it is coming up in a large walk-in shower. The shower is draining fine...need answer! thanks

sounds like there may be some blockage in pipes. try to run a long snake through both drains or run all fixtures in bathroom and try plunging vigorously in tub and shower while running water. if nothing still, it may be possible that your underground plumbing is back graded or incorrect fittings and plumbing installation.
