SOURCE: I have a poulan pp4218avhd chain saw that won't

I have this saw and really like it. Does the the primer seem to work? Most problems on these saws can be traced back to cracked fuel lines. Either tank to primer, primer to carb, or carb return back to tank. I would recommend it the saw it more than 3 years old to replace all the fuel lines. Total cost about $5. Buy your fuel line at Ace Hardware.

SOURCE: I've replaced the ignition module on my Poulan Pro

The spark should be blue in color not orange or white. A bluish ornage is ok. The easiest was to set the gap is to tear off the front and back of a match book cover tear it in half and place the 2 pieces between the module and the flywheel losen the module and let it slide against the match book cover. Tighten the mounting screws and then turn the flywheel to remove the match book cover. <- (Been doing this for 40 years!)

I suspect your problem may be fuel / carb related vs ignition.

However.... a bad spark plug will spark when removed and you have grounded the electrode end to the engine but will NOT work when you install it. Make sure you change the plug. (FYI I have seen new Champion mini plugs fail right out of the box.) I have had as many as 3 in a single NEW box of plugs fail.

Just for grins try adding a splash of gas into the spark plug hole or carb throat before you try and start it. If you get a momentary start you have carb / fuel supply problems.

If you discover you have carb / fuel problems just repsond and we can proceed with getting you going again. I will help you.

Thanks for Choosing FixYa

SPARK PLUG FOR POULAN LAWNMOWER #600Y22SHP AND WHAT KIND OF OIL TO BUY. wANT TO DO MAINTIANCE.

Take the old plug out and it will have numbers on the side. Simply match them up and you can cross-reference them on the package of any other plug that looks like it fits. But I'm guessing that mower has a Brigg's and Stratton engine and the plug will probably be a RJ19LM (Champion Number), which is what 99 percent of the engines I work on take (gapped at .030). Also, most mowers today run on straight 30 weight oil (not a multi-viscosity such as 10W30, Just 30 weight). Hope this helps you and good luck. P.S. Your owner's manual will tell you what you need to know and the engine sticker will tell you the oil.
