I'm afraid the thing you call front glass is the tough screen once it is cracked you need it to be replaced. For an expensive and new tablet I would go to a phone store and ask them what it will cost. For an old or cheap tablet I would buy a new one. Anyway a replacement could cost up to 200 dollar. So don't forget to ask what it will cost in advance. Just to avoid surprises.

Sounds like a rough one. Repair the crack? @ things ... Replace the glass and or the screen.You do not want to get any glue or used for that purpose. The glass is to protect the screenso, it would be best to look into replacing the glass. It might be part of the screen itself.

If there is physical damage to the touchscreen, then it can become unresponsive and will need to be replaced. The touchscreen is bonded to the glass (they are one piece), so both the touchscreen & glass will need to be replaced, even though the glass may not be cracked. The touchscreen is sold as one part, you can't buy or replace just the glass. There is a capacitive layer glued to the glass that is probably damaged.

The part they are replacing is really not that expensive. Where the money comes in is the labor. Most of that cost is just to get them to show up. If you can remove it yourself (with help of course) you can take it in to be repaired. Of you could wait to find one on sale with the upcoming Christmas season and hopefully you can find a deal with free installation. The glass of the touchscreen should not have cracked. It would have taken quite a bit of pressure to crack the glass. Sorry for the bad news.

smash out old mirror glass being careful not to scratch the side of your car put a couple of dobs of silicone behind it and it should just clip in if it doesnt clip in easily dont force it as it will crack just take it to your local glass company and they will be able to fit it for you

The screen consist of two parts: touchscreen(TS) itself and LCD screen. They're attached mechanically, not with glue or solder.
TS glued to metal frame and by mean of this frame(mechanically) attached to LCD(like shoebox cover) - you can see pits on side.
1. With sharp blade of razor or scalpel gently remove this frame with TS glued on top.
2. Then remove TS from the frame (I simply broke it and removed glass pieces from the frame)
3. Clean the frame with alcohol to remove glue and grains of glass.
4. Glue new TS to the frame at ONE SITTING!
5. Wipe out dust from LCD and inner surface of TS and attach the frame.
6. Buy conducting glue and connect 4-contacts of TS cable with LCD cable. Put adhesive tape over them to maintain electric connection.
