To change the belt you need to remove the pump attatched to the motor. the pump is held on by either spring clamps or in older models, torx (star) screws. I believe the size for the torx screws is #20. slip the belt over the motor pulley and around the tension pulley and finally around the transmission. reinstall the pump and you're good to go.

Miele Novotronic W828 Water Control System Front Load Washer

Hello Ellen, welcome to fixya. I would begin by removing the rear panel and checking the belt and insure the basket pulley isn't loose as well. If the belt is in tack ( not broke ) but has come off that sometimes is caused by a loose or bent pulley, hence the suggestion to check the pulley. If the belt is broke, it may simply be a matter of normal "wear & tear" and just time to replace it. Hope that helps point you in the right direction. Please take a moment and rate this info according to it's helpfulness or let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks for visiting "fixya" today and good luck. Macmarkus :)

How to replace the belt that it broke

To replace a belt on a Frigidaire front loader, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the washer and turn the washing machine around so you can access the back panel. Remove the rear panel by locating and loosening the screws around the perimeter of the panel.

2. Loop the drive belt on the drive motor pulley with the ribbed side on the pulley. Leave a one-groove gap between the belt and the end of the pulley.

3. Take both hands and pull straight up on the belt and place on the drum pulley beginning on the left hand side.

4. Hold the belt firmly in place and slowly turn the drum pulley to the right while holding the belt in place. The belt will eventually align and hold in place on the drum pulley.

NOTE: This may require some effort to get the belt in place.

If you have any questions, or are uncertain if these steps let me know. I hope this information is helpful.

I have a Frigidaire washer that I need to install the v-belt. The old belt broke so I wasn't able to see how it threaded abound the, I believe, three pulleys. Also, what about the belt tension once...

the belt goes around the the motor pulley then tension arm and then around the transmission pulley once you start to put it on the transmission pulley you can push it clockwise and this will help put the belt in possition

How do you install a new belt? its hard to fit around !!

Youmust loosen the motor bracket bolts and this will allow the motor to swing. Put belt on the motor pulley and feed the belt onto the large drum pulley and at the same time turn the drum pulley so that the belt pulls onto the pulley groove. Put some tension on the motor to tension the belt - not too much tension though. Holding the motor & belt tension, tighten the motor bracket bolts - job done. Should take no more than twenty minutes to complete.

Maytag Performa PAV2300AWW screaching noise, belt problem, pulley broke

My Maytag Performa was making the loud squealing noise. I changed out the water pump/bearing, took care of the problem.
Putting a new belt on just help burn up the bearing (they needed replacing) and probably ruined the new belt. Probably seized the water pump bearing and the belt jumped and broke the motor pully. A washing machine motor is very strong, when that h20 pump bearing seized (or possibly some bearings jamed up) the motor kept on turning that belt and the plastic pully gave in. You'll need to replace that also. If the h20 pumb bearing is turning freely, likely the bearings jammed up but or now loose. That bearing should be tight, no slack or play in it. You can probably wobble the pully on it all around while turning it. The slightest slack is too much.

MayTag washing machine

Need a little more information. Is the belt still in tact ? Is it weaving through the pulleys ? If it it then you need to check the idler pulley to see if it is worn. If the belt is broke then there are several steps that must be taken.

New belt

First put the belt around the small pulley, shd be the motor pulley i think. Then ease the belt around the big pulley & gently move clockwise if the pulley is on the left side; anti clockwise if you are inserting on the right side. The belt will fall into place. Actually it is very simple.
