Our Maytag CRP5300AXW gas oven doesn't heat, but oven's pilot light is on. If you turn on the oven, the pilot light gets higher, but there doesn't seem to be any gas coming out of the burner tube itself for the pilot to ignite. (My husband says he doesn't smell any extra gas, and that there's no gas smell, as one might expect if the gas were coming out, but somehow not getting lit by the pilot. Even with the oven turned full on, my husband can't light the oven with a lighter anywhere along the gas openings on the burner tube, so he's pretty sure no gas is coming into the burner tube for the pilot to light.)
On the other hand, I think I might be able to smell some gas coming from somewhere, but I can't tell if I'm just smellingthe tiny bit of regular offgassing that just comes from the burners. The top burners all work fine. Is there a second pilot light for the oven on this model, or some kind of additional pilot light to the burners? We're in a rental so don't have the handbook.
Although it would be great to have the oven working, we're more concerned about determining if there are safety issues concerning the gas.
SOURCE: vulcan oven will not stay lit
I would take out the pilot and clean it up and see what happens, also look behind the unit and see if theres a gas regulator on the gas line,if so you will see a nut on it take it off with a pair of pliers and clean as well.that valve is actually the saftey valve, when the pilot lights the flame impinges on the thermocouple and that sends a millivolt back to that valve in order to open.if none of these resolve your problem i would replace the thermocouple first as this is a cheap part and easy to put on.if you need a part # i can give it to you.let me know.

The pilot light must be lit and stay lit before you will have any propane coming into the oven. This is a safety feature.

SOURCE: top oven bake igniter comes on, but gas does not.
If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing) - check the amperage on
the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style -
amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If
less
than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not
come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage
110-120v AC. Faulty gas valve is uncommon, but still a
small possibility. Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528,
WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020,
5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if
you can splice the wires.
Good luck!
