I can not get my wheeled weed trimmer started. I have checked the gas, oil and air filter. It seems that the gas does not get to the primer button. When the air filter was out, I pressed the primer, and a little gas came up from the tube. but it didn't seem to go unto the primer button.Thank youKay

How to adjust carburetor

no adjustments possible, use fresh gas/oil mix 40:1. Check carb primer bulb for cracks and fuel lines. Excess air can cause high rev and surging.

Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running

This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

What ratio of oil and gas do I mix together? How do you start it? I bought the weed eater used.

If you bought it used, you can bet that they didn't run it out of fuel before they stored it, so the gas evapoated out of the carb and all that was left was oil, so mix your fuel 8 to one eight parts gas and one part oil, you'll have to hit the primer botton several times.

My Craftsman 17cc gas weed trimmer wouldn't start.

Hi There, Check the primer bulb for tare or pin holes. Replace it. Check and clean carb jet it maybe plugged with debree. Also check for spark which you didn't say. Replace with correct plug.
Note; Do not use strong cleaners on rubber seals (O rings and gaskets) They dry up and crack.
If needed use a dabble of grease on seals

My string trimmer will not start

Possible solutions:
-Kill switch is shorted out-check the wire and connections.
-Buy a new plug.
-Primer bulb needs to be replaced.
-Fuel filter needs to be replaced, and it's located inside the gas tank so it's a bit tricky to replace.
-Try starting it without the air filter attached.

Is it possible an incorrect mix of gas/oil was used (or straight gas) which in turn ruined the motor?

Weed trimmer

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. check the primer bulb for pin holes and seating/sealed properly. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.
